A Brief Chat With: Ryan Shay
Rick:  Whats going on Ryno?
RS: Dont call me Ryno you jerk.
Rick: Lighten up, I was just kidding.  So tell me about your recent win at NCAA's.
RS: I was pretty happy to win, but I think my time could have been faster seeing as how I grabbed a 17 year old kid out of the stands during the race and pummeled him for a minute and a half.
Rick: Well thats interesting, is winning that race the highlight of your life thus far?
RS: No, I would definitly say that the thrid world fist fighting championship would be the highlight.
Rick: Tell us about your pre-race drills.
RS: Well, I start off with an easy 2 mile warm up, just like most people.  Then I strech, once I am done streching I run a sub four mintue mile.
Rick: Before your race?
RS: Yeah, I mean, I want the race to hurt as bad as possible, so I like to get a little junk in my legs before the race.
Rick: Whatever you say.
RS: So after my sub 4 mile, I spike myself over 300 times, just to get a little feeling in my legs.  After that I do three to four thousand push ups, and eighteen hundred crunches.
Rick: Dont you think that hurts your race?
RS: Are you questioning me?  One time I beat a man within an inch of his life for telling me my shirt was on backwards.
Rick: Fine, could you tell us about your training?
RS: I usally keep the milage under twenty miles a week.
Rick: Under twenty?
RS: Yeah, but I suppliment it by punching a brick wall for six to eight hours a day, to keep my pain tolarance up, never can have too much of that.
Rick: Well thanks for talking to us, and good luck defending your heavywieght title belt.
