Ehrwald in Austria
This is a great village for family skiing. There are some wonderful blue and red runs in a terrific alpine setting at the base of the Zugspitze, and not far away from Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany. Although the altitude is not so high, the runs are generally well prepared, and I have found the skiing superb, especially in the months of January and February.
There are many places to stay in this village. My favorite is Pension Daheim, a rustic old farmhouse turned pension run by Frau Dürr, which can house 20 people or even more. The price includes an Austrian breakfast, and the rooms are a bargain.
