Sorry to say it, but autominers and other downloads are a thing of the past. Runescape now has excellent autominer stoppers (evil chickens, security guards, etc) which only allow for a few minutes of automining at a time. Even if you wanted to try autominers, many contain keyloggers or a virus.
Rule of thumb: Never download anything that is meant to help your character in any way. It won't work.

The password recovery email allows you to change someone else's password to one of your own. It works well, but many people get the email adress wrong, making it ineffective. Here is the correct email adress:

COMMON SCAMS

There are many scams involving Runescape. Here are some common scams:
     *Players asking for an item in exchange for nothing. For example- some players claim they can trim armor. Players do not have this ability.
     *Fake Runescape websites. There are many imitation Runescape websites, some of which claim to be Runescape 3 beta. 'Logging in' on these imitation sites will send your username and password to a scammer.
     *New hacking techniques that do not work. Some people tell you a way to hack Runescape that does not work. They say if you have any problems to email them your username and password.

BUYING ACCOUNTS / GOLD

Ebay sometimes sells a piece paper which just happen to have a runescape username and password on it. As long as the seller has a good feedback report, there shouldn't be any problems with the transaction.
Other than Ebay, all sites seem to be a money scam. You pay for the items, but they don't deliver--Legally, they aren't even required to.
