| LIKE A VIRGIN Standout tracks - Material Girl, Angel, Like A Virgin, Love Don't Live Here Anymore, and Into The Groove. (In my opinion the album's best songs) 1. Material Girl - Madonna's nickname. An excellent song accompanied by an excellent video. The Tamperer have even sampled this song on one of theirs. I thought Madonna looked incredible in Marilyn Monroe's dress and really brought out the message in this song. It is great to sing along to. Favourite line: "Experience has made me rich and now they're after me." **MATERIAL GIRL IS AVAILABLE IN MIDI FORMAT BY CLICKING HERE** 2. Angel - This song is quite similar to the title track, but not as good. It is very virginal as most of the album is. The introduction was quite clever and the lyrics as well. Madonna certainly sounds like an angel on this track. Favourite line: "I believe dreams come true, cause you came when I wished for you." 3. Like A Virgin - OK, nearly everybody knows this track, because this is the song that made Madonna who she is today. The song is excellent with those virginal lyrics and good beats. And who could forget the video, where Madonna looked very pretty? No one else could ever do this song as good as her. Favourite line: "You're so fine and you're mine, make me strong, yeah, you make me bold, oh your love thawed out, yeah your love thawed out what was scared and cold." **LIKE A VIRGIN IS AVAILABLE IN MIDI FORMAT BY CLICKING HERE** 4. Over And Over - Has a good beat and Madonna does this song justice. It's catchy to sing along to, as well. Favourite line: "You tried to criticise my drive." 5. Love Don't Live Here Anymore - Cover version of the Rose Royce hit. Check out Madonna's vocal performance on this. She sure can sing! There is so much emotion on this, makes you want to cry. I am sure you will agree that Madonna's version is better than the original, because she sounds like she's singing what she's feeling in the lyrics. Favourite line: "In the windmills of my eyes, everyone can see the loneliness inside of me." 6. Into The Groove - Theme from Madonna's great movie "Desperately Seeking Susan". What I really want to know is why Madonna did not record a whole soundtrack for it, because "Into The Groove" is one of her best songs ever. Bound to get you thrusting your stuff on the dancefloor, this takes you back to Madonna's club period, but more poppier. Favourite line: "Touch my body and move in time, now I know you're mine." **INTO THE GROOVE MIDI FILE IS AVAILABLE BY CLICKING HERE** 7. Dress You Up - Missed out on being a standout track, "Dress You Up" is so nice. A long introduction and very catchy lyrics. Remember on the Who's That Girl? tour, where she dressed up as Dame Edna and performed this track? That was a fantastic idea. Favourite line: "Feel the silky touch of my caresses, they will keep you looking so brand new." **DRESS YOU UP IS AVAILABLE IN MIDI FORMAT BY CLICKING HERE** 8. Shoo-Bee-Doo - A slowie which then goes into a great beat. Madonna sounded great on this song, but it was not as effective as "Love Don't Live Here Anymore". Favourite line: "When I look in your eyes, I see so much confusion and it's killing me." 9. Pretender - I liked the way Madonna sang on this track. Good lyrics to sing out your frustration. Favourite line: "I know that I should take my friend's advice." 10. Stay - An interesting closing track for an excellent album. It's quite cool actually. Favourite line: "Let's leave the past behind, true love is so hard to find." Overall - A big improvement from The First Album. One of many of Madonna's greatest albums. Every track is excellent, in some way reflecting to the title. If you're a beginner to Madonna, this is the album you should try out first. |
