Tours of the desert

The following are just examples of tours. Please contact Zedane to discuss what you'd like to see and do & he will tailor a unique Wadi Rum experience for you.


4WD trip - 2 days, 1 night

Day 1: Zedane will collect you by jeep from an agreed location. After stopping for tea at Zedane's house, we continue by jeep into the desert. Passing Lawrence's spring, we'll climb a small jebel to see the view then go down to the sand dunes. We then go by jeep to the wondrous natural arches, after which we rest & have tea before continuing to the rock carvings and a small siq.

The final stop is at Zedane's camp in the middle of the desert. We can watch the sun setting from one of the jebels, then enjoy traditional bedouin fare under the stars, sitting by the fire talking or playing games before we go to sleep under the stars or in the traditional bedouin tent - the choice is yours!

Day 2: Wake early to watch the sun rising over the desert. After a traditional bedouin breakfast, we'll head back to the village where you can catch the bus for Aqaba, Petra or the Dead Sea.

Camel trek - 3 days, 2 nights

Day 1: Camels will meet you at Wadi Rum and take you past Lawrence's well and Khazali mountain where you can see carvings in the rocks made by the Thamodians 2200 years ago. We watch the colorful sunset over the desert and afterwards enjoy a barbeque under the stars.

Day 2: After a traditional bedouin breakfast we ride through the stunning desert landscape to the Wadi Dayqa camp where we have dinner and spend the night.

Day 3: After breakfast we ride through the cliffs and canyons of Wadi Umran up to the main road, where a taxi to Aqaba is waiting.

Walking tour - 6 days, 5 nights

Day 1: The trek starts from The Seven Pillars of Wisdom and continues through the Emukrath Siq where we have lunch. We continue to Elmamlah mountain where we can see the Thamodian carvings in the rock. The night is spent at camp in Abu Tabag.

Day 2: After a traditional bedouin breakfast we start trekking towards the Burdah arch, where we stop for lunch, climb the arch and enjoy the view of the desert from the top. The night is spent at camp close to the arch.

Day 3: After breakfast we walk to Um Froth arch. After climbing the arch and a short rest we continue trekking towards Um Amgour mountain where we have lunch. We then continue to Um Sabatah in order to see the colorful sunset over the desert. We spend the night here.

Day 4: Get up early to see the sunrise. After breakfast we walk towards Umm Aldami mountain, which is the highest mountain in Jordan at 1835 metres above sealevel and located just on the Saudi Arabian border. We spend the night close to the mountain.

Day 5: After breakfast we climb the Umm Aldami before lunch. We then move on to Almigial mountain where we spend the night.

Day 6: A morning trek to Harab Antar where we have lunch. After lunch, 4WD trucks pick us up for the trip back to Aqaba.

Camel trek - 10 days, 9 nights
Wadi Rum to the ancient city of Petra

Day 1: Arrive in Wadi Rum at noon. Look around the bedouin village Rum & visit the Nabatean Temple, the Seven Pillars of Wisdom and Lawrence's Well. Enjoy a barbeque under the starlit sky and enjoy a night at the campsite of Wadi Rum Resthouse.

Day 2: After a traditional bedouin breakfast we ride the camels out on the sand dunes of Alnfaishieh. After lunch and sweet bedouin tea on the dunes, we continue riding towards the Barrah Canyon. Here we have dinner and camp out in the open under the moon and can fully enjoy the serenity of the desert.

Day 3: Having watched the sunrise and had breakfast, we contine to Qa Umsalah where we have lunch. Then we contine on to Um Ghatha where we stay for the night.

Day 4: We trek to Wadi Hilwa camp where we spend the night.

Day 5: After breakfast we move past Wadi Jamil to Dilagha where we have lunch. We then continue riding to Al Rajifa where we stop for the night.

Day 6: Continued trekking through the desert to Tyba, where we have lunch, and on to Thughra camp where we stay overnight and enjoy a traditional bedouin dinner.

Day 7: We are close to Petra now and after breakfast we head for Wadi Musa - the village near Petra. The night is spent in Wadi Musa at a 3-star hotel.

Day 8: The day is spent inside Petra - the ancient rock city of the Nabateans. You enter the city through a narrow siq, and inside you will be awestruck by the buildings and tombs carved from the rock more than 2000 years ago. Lunch inside Petra and the night is spent at the same hotel.

Day 9: Also this day is spent inside Petra. Trek to the High place of Sacrifice with a splendid views over Petra, or make the one hour trek up to the Monastery - Petras largest facade. Lunch is had inside Petra and the night is again spent at the hotel.

Day 10: From the hotel we go to Little Petra by car. After a look around we head south for Aqaba.
