The Curtain Call

 "This could be the greatest performance of my life." she thought to herself as she quickly said goodbye to the remaining cast. She takes a deep breath and struggles to burry the emotions of the last 2 minutes. Opens the stage door for her final curtain call and finds .... emptiness. She whispers to herself, " where's my audience," as she fans her hair aside and begins a 65 yard  journey to a closed gate.  How? Why? Not again? Echo in her thoughts." Come on, gather yourself Jamie." she says," Hold it together, remember you are an actress".  Suddenly that sound, that wonderful sound as the gate opens. Applause!

"You like me, you really like me". She hugs her mother and father. "You came all this way for me?" She hugs her 3 friends from Seattle.  "I better make this look good"  She hugs the Rent-a-Crowd and stage extras that have been prompted to respond.  "I hope you did me justice"  She hugs the camera-man hoping that it's Bob.    ( Fade to studio shot.)

"Oh this must be my co-host," she says ,seeing Julie approach as the Rent-a-Crowd forms a semi-circle behind her.  "And these must be my fans" (not knowing that these people are being paid to clap).  She thinks to herself that running mascara would be a nice touch and might give her a shot at an Emmy next year. "Oh that darn Curtis, I'll never forgive him" her mind wonders. She searches the room to see which camera is on, gently fans her hair and comes to rest across from an actual TV personality. 

Julie says, "you came so close, yet so far"

Jamie hears," your so close, to being a star!!"
