THEY dont always shoot the messenger.
Freelance journalist John Rumney is living proof of that.
John received a certificate of appreciation from Russell Island Dolphins Cricket Club at its first annual presentation day.
The club recognised his continual work in promoting our club in the media.
Career details and current projects
Where the reports appeared
MOST of Johns reports on and pictures of the Dolphins appeared in the Rural Press publications,
Redland Times, Bayside Bulletin and Southern Bay News, to which he has been a contributing writer for several years.
The veteran news hound moved to Russell Island in 2003 to set up a writing and editing agency.

Island communuity grows
THE southern Moreton Bay islands make a good base to service the south-east Queensland boom region, John said.
Only a few years ago this island cluster on the doorstep of an Australian capital city was a backwater.
It is fantastic to watch the growth of the community. Now we have not only a host of new services and residents with a big range of interests but also a cricket club, affiliated with the sports governing bodies.
That is a great thing for the island community.
When reporting sport in my past lives I always kept in mind that a sport event lasts only a few hours but a club or individuals sporting associations run 24/7.
The Dolphins have quickly become entrenched in the community and I am happy to help.
