| The Future of Rumi Maki | ||||||
| As of today, Rumi Maki is only practiced in Peru by a handful of people. Outside of this only elements of Peruvian martial culture are kept alive by the Andean people. They are still kept a part of the culture primarily due to various festivals that incorporate the combative nature of the Peruvian people. We hope that the book Rumi Maki Fighting Arts will serve as a tool to bring more awareness to the vibrant martial culture of Peru. So that it may be appreciated and safeguarded along with the other rich cultural treasures of Peru. Sometime in the near future we hope to organize seminars in North America with Juan Ramon Rodriguez Flores and create videos to help introduce Rumi Maki to the world. At some point we would like to arrange trips to Peru to experience Rumi Maki with Juan Ramon on his native soil. You cannot separate Rumi Maki from the Runa (people). Checking out the new book Rumi Maki Fighting Arts is a great first step to help protect the future of Rumi Maki and Peruvian martial culture. |
