AssaultNBattery

'A medium wheeled rover using a small engine, sonar steering, radar/sonar targeting, an imperial battery and a shieldL. The imperial battery is fired when a target comes into range, so long as the target is not within a 20-degree arc of the rover's heading. This is to help prevent the "shoot yourself in the nose" effect. It's fairly successful, if not quite perfect. Binarychaser and aiminghelp components are used in the targeting system, and the binarychaser also controls the angle of the shieldL. A health sensor turns the shield "on" for a preset period when "change" is sensed, and the health sensor also controls two health packs. AssaultNBattery's tactics depend upon speed to avoid opponent's fire, and upon a fairly high cyclic rate for the imperial battery. This cyclic rate is set to fire the imperial battery in bursts of three rounds. There is also a start-up logic circuit that insures the rover will not get stuck behind the crates when the contest begins.'

Junkyard Dog

'Junkyard Dog uses the Imperial Battery, plus four Battle Lasers. Targeting is by a radar and a sonar, and sonar steering is used. While Junkyard Dog is quite slow with its small engine, it's tactic is to bash other rovers around with the Imperial Battery and then finish them off with the Battle Lasers. A subroutine is used to change Battle Laser power settings in an attempt to maximize the Battle Laser cyclic rate, and the Imperial Battery is set to fire shots in groups of three. The basis for Junkyard Dog's skin is a scan of a piece of rusted steel, with other elements added on top of this.'
