Rumbaugh-Gidney Dorset Sheep

Three generations working together!

About Us

Thank you for visiting Rumbaugh-Gidney Dorsets. Our site is still under construction. So, if there is any information you specifically need, by all means call or email us.

Our sheep are all dorsets. All of them are old-fashioned dorsets. As you may know, means they are not cross bred with other breeds, such as Columbia's. All our sheep are registered, and we have detailed records going back to 1980.

In our flock we have primarily used Carson Rams. Our goal, as breeders, is production sheep. Our flock is accelerated, lambing Three times per year. We are not strictly production breeders, as we activly participate in 4H. We show both at the county and state fair.

We are located in central Indiana, Just outside of Martinsville. We have two farms located five miles apart from each other. They are Run by the family, with three generations working together. Bill and Judy Rumbaugh run the main farm. Their daughter, Mary Gidney and her husband Brian Gidney run the other. The Gidneys are also helped by their children Blake and Jessica. We thank you for your time, and hope to hear from you.

Coming Soon:

We are about to begin developing a sheep database program. Our lead programmer is scheduled to begin development at the begining of the year. If all goes well the program will be done by early summer! This program is design specifically for sheep breeders in mind. The Program, When finished, Will be able to accurately display information about your flock. It also will allow you to see stats about yor flock, such as trends in weight, birth rates, gestation periods etc. We look forward to the completion of this program, finally, with the sheep breeder in mind.

Comments and suggestions are highly appreciated. This is your chance to get in on the development of the program. Tell me what you would like to do with the program when you sit down on your computer. How I can make it more user friendly to you. Email me at: [email protected]
