About Rumah Bakti Dato' Harun

Rumah Bakti Dato' Harun is an orphange house which serves to help many orphans out there.

A group of social activists and senior government officer of Selangor State have successfully built and registered "Pertubuhan Pendidikan Anak-Anak Yatim Selangor” according to Registry Number ARS/Sel/50/66 on 16th of August in the year 1996.

After getting the approval for this registration, the Committee involved have moved towards achieving the objectives of its establishment. Thanks to merit of the Y.Bhg AllahyarhamDato’ Haji Harun Idris and his wife, Y.Bhg Datin Salmah Suleiman, the Selangor government state have gave a 4.8 hectare land in Mukim Hulu Kelang (HS.231) according to the documment approval amount of PHT.G.2/139/75. And to decided if this projects can be well and successfully executed, Y.Bhg Allahyarham Dato’ Haji Harun Idris have been selected as the chairman of this organization.

Several program have been done for example, Majlis Jamuan Makan Malam, premier show and also the appeal to the member, and have succeeded on build the Rumah Baki building with the cost of 158, 107.81 ringgit Malaysia. DYMM Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Alhaj ibni Almarhum Sultan Hisamuddin Alam Shah Sultan Selangor have consented to be the RBHK patron. At the early stage, the intake of orphans have been done in the year 1976 which are comprises of tenty six people: 13 boys and 13 girls which the age range is from 6 to 12 years old. RBHK have been launched by DYMM Sultan Selangor at 15th of March in 1977. From year to year until 2013, Ruah Bakti have been occupied by 83 orphans which are from 7 to 17 years old.

On 2nd of March 1982, 2 block of new 2-leveled hostel have been built up. Both of the hostel block costed 600,000.00Myr and was a contribution of Selangor State government and also from the donation of lots of people. A surau(italickanyer) are also have been built up in 1984. But, in the year 2009 a new surau have been built up to replace the older surau. It is a donation from Y. Bhg Datin Salmah Sulaiman, the wife of Allahyarham Dato’ Haji Harun Idris. RBHK got a new library in 1989. This library then becomes a resource centre in 1997. Because RBHK have got a new surau, the old surau have been reconstructed into newer resource centre which s divided into 2 part, which is a library and a computer room.

The Transformation

To remember the good deed of Y.Bhg Allahyarham Dato’ Haji Harun Idris, the committee of Pertubuhan Pendidikan Anak-Anak Yatim Selangor have agreed to change the name of Rumah Bskti Hulu Kelang (RBHK) to the Rumah Bakti Dato' Harun (RBDH). Along with that, the logo of Rumah Bakti have also been transform and the amendment have been passed by the Pendaftar Pertubuhan in 29th of July, 2011.
