Recordings From My High-Tech Kitchen Laptop Studio
All recorded using that fancy Garage Band program. Mostly works in progress, mind you.
** I just realized that Yay-hoo! only allows for a certain amount of data transfer per hour, so if you listen to something, and can't get back in, try back again in an hour or so :) **
Moon River - Rumour has it that when hearing actress Audrey Hepburn perform this song in the movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's" one film producer said "get that damn song out of it". Tee hee. This one was by request for my friend Randy who ditched me and moved to Seattle, taking with him my other dear friend Heather and their baby, who just started to really like me. Sheesh.
Sommersault - Originally Recorded by Zero 7.
Wish I had the fancy equipment to do versions in their style, damn! All of their songs are so lovely.
On the Sunny Side of the Street - I've heard so many versions of this song, but after a little research, I found that it was written by a woman named Dorothy Fields.
She wrote over 400 songs back in the day, and contributed quite a few famous standards. Check her out. She was pretty fancy and bad-ass looking, too.
Only Love Can Break Your Heart - Written by Neil Young, it was his first top 40 solo hit. Covered also by St. Etienne in the dance-electro style of my beloved college dancing days.
Hallelujah - Originally written and recorded by Leonard Cohen.
Jeff Buckley did a gorgeous version of it on his first album, Grace.
If you haven't heard it, you should. You can get a sample here.
