| When Jennifer awakens after passing out yet again, she is tied up in a strange room. The little boy introduces himself, via a PA system, as the Prince. He says she must do as he says or die, then sets her free with a talking pair of scissors. In the room, she finds the coffin she was trapped in, but the sack is now empty. She puts together some old junk that calls itself "Bucket Knight", who then vows to assist her in getting back that which even he barely remembers. |

| While exploring, she comes across the dog she saw in the park, all tied up. She frees him and earns his trust by calling him by the name on the collar-Brown. Together, the two explore their strange surroundings, encountering the devious children from the orphanage, only without the masks. Jen soon discovers they are members of a club called the Red Crayon Aristocrats, a twisted form of goverment, ruled by the mysterious Rose Princess and Bear Prince, whom they must present monthly gifts to or otherwise be punished. Even more shocking, is the fact that Jennifer is now aboard an airship, high in the sky and it is filled with twisted monsters. |

When Jennifer finally finds a gift with the help of Brown, she is permitted to join the group, but is nothing more than a Beggar, which is the lowest rank. She is reminded of this by the first-in-command after the Princess, the Duchess Diana. Diana calls her worthless and orders another Poor girl, Amanda, to punish her with a rat tied to a stick. This causes Jennifer to pass out and later wakes up with Brown. The two set out to complete the next series of tasks, and Jennifer manages to best Amanda and get a new rank just above her-Irritating. She also meets Wendy-the only orphan who is kind to her-and Gregory. |
