"Joshua" sics the big, scary, insane, murderous Gregory on a young Jennifer in the main hall of the orphanage. Terrified and feeling helpless, she scurries around in fear, believing there is no escape and that she will be killed. But as she starts to give in to despair, she suddenly remembers what happened to Brown and the lesson she learned from his death about being strong and not just giving in out of fear. Her returned memory of Brown gives her the courage to try and survive, and she manages to escape outside. This would explain why Brown suddenly returns during the Stray Dog battle-it represents the memory of what happened to him returning to a young Jennifer and reminding her to not give in.
