I hate it when he pulls this myserious act, she thought, but, still, Betty was smiling as they entered the TARDIS. 

"So this is the famous Metebilis Three," she said a moment later, as they stepped out again onto a glittering, boulder-strewn plain overlooking a settlement of small huts clustered around a river. "You know, it looks much more impressive in person than the BBC low-budget-special-effects version." 

"I'm glad it meets with your approval," said the Doctor dryly. 

"So, what now? We go and confront the spiders?" 

"So eager?" He smiled at her. "No, not just yet. I'd like to talk with the humans here first." 

1. Betty squinted into the distance. "I think you're about to get your wish," she said. "There's someone coming this way."
