| "Walants.....isn't that one of those shadow towns I've heard about?"
Lord Fred asks as they come back out into the sunlight. "A town set up
by the Black Marketwhere anyone and anything can be bought....for the right
price?"
"Yes, it is." Astra says. "It's one of the more notorious 'unofficial'
towns that was a thorn in her father's side. This town in particular was
just across the border in the nation of MalBoncton....a country notoriously
friendly to the more base criminals of the Black Market. Her father had
always complained about the goings on over in that country, but the cost
of going across the border to wipe out those @$@#$ towns would mean all
out war! What was really annoying was that all countries had rumors of
small vilage/towns like this....just this one was so bold as to be so ballant
about it's existence. "If you have a map of this area I may be able to
point out how far and what direction it lies."
The demi-foxes walk over to the docile horse that was patiently awaiting
for it's master's return. Malachi, tired of the horse's screaming and it's
trying to run away with the presence of her, had bespelled the animal to
be as docile as a gelded palfry (even though it was a spirited Warcharger....a
breed of horse famed for it's battle feirceness....and it's bad temper).
The dragonness had said in passing that the horse would stay that way until
either: it died, or until she lifted the spell. Considering the fact that
Fred and Astra were now so small....and probably so alien smelling to the
equine, that this was a REAL blessing! Astra knew of a method of setting
up a harness system for animals larger than horses....say elephants.....and
with their diminished size they could use this method to ride the huge
equine to whereever they needed to go.
Fred scampers up to his saddlebag and removes a new pair of clothing
for himself and Astra to replace their soiled clothing. Cleaned up and
fed, the demi-foxes then get down to business....
