| "I said: 'Are you responsible for neutralizing the Seizure program?'"
Inquirer asked the wildly panting demi-fox who had scattered glittering
powder all over himself and much of this odd room. "Hey, I'm sorry if I
scared you like that, but…..you've just got to be calm about what you're
doing!"
She didn't know where the little native got the technical know how to
reset her systems so the painful effects of the inhibitor program, but
apparently he had. At least he had also been able to re-intialize a facial
and vocal functions also.
But if the little demi-fox knew enough on how to do that, then he should
also know that an Avatar goes from a state that looks like death to "life"
instantly….no warm up time at all. This little fellow seemed like Inquirer
just rose from the grave!
"But….you shouldn't be awake yet!" whispers Sigin. He had just laid
down the rudimentary connections between gem and Golem body (electing to
use traditoinal means instead of trying figure out how the Golem's creator
had animated her) when the connection had surged and flared!
The demi-fox had thought as the connection gave off a stobe-like flash
that he had activated a hidden magical booby trap….and he was dead! He'd
scream in fright and spilt the grounded diamond powder all over himself
and the surrounding floor.
Geeze! a distant part of the demi-foxes mind thought. I never
got this scared when I was a dragon! This body's heart of pounding a mile
a minute….and my tail's standing on end!
"Of course I'm supposed to be awake!" snaps Inquirer. "Even the worst
of tech books says I'm supposed to be awake now at this point in the bleeping
operation! Whatever Alliance instructor taught you must have been half-assed
about everything!"
Sigin blinked, seeing that the Golem and he weren't "on the same page"
and was about to ask her what she was talking about, when the other people
in the Lair came running to see what had happened.
A young, exotic brown skinned woman with lovely green eyes (and dressed
in a rather plain, utilitarian set of pants and odd shirt/jacket with hood,
got there first. Sigin had never met this woman before, but reasoned that
this was the unconscious woman from the strange ship he and Carradene had
transported to this cavern. The woman quickly looked the demi-fox over,
concluded that he was okay, and turned to the female Golem on the table!
"Are you okay?" she asked, concerned. "I heard the screaming of the
demi-fox and thought that something terrible had happened!"
