Weddings and Alliances…

Inquirer

Let us see, now.

After Blake awoke, the elves were able to convince him of our good intentions. That and doing things one better by convincing him that we may be able to aid his rebels against his Federation (and considering what kind of shape that operation would be in after Garuda Prime got invaded, he needs it).

Betty was able to at least pave the way somewhat between Blake and Avon, warning Blake that Avon had been through a lot since last they had met. See, according to Betty Avon had shot Blake in the gut near the end of the TV show because he'd thought Blake had betrayed him. Turns out that Arlen who did the job, but by that time it was too late to fix things....

Well, things did work out between the two, thank the Creator! Would have intervened if we'd heard battle, but....

Well, soon we had a basic plan on just how we all were going to go about getting aid for Blake's cause. A direct alliance with the Military is out of the question. While the Military equivalent of Star Fleet's Prime Directive is more flexible by far, it just couldn't meet the strain this would place upon it. Instead, we were going to recruit retired Military folk, who are no longer under those constraints. They'll have the experience and access to materials that Blake's group will need. Best place for that recruiting drive is after my parents wedding.

It works out well enough, despite some...hrmph....complications that I don't really feel like going into right now. Some of those complications actually helped Blake's cause, for I doubt otherwise that the recently retired Commanding Officer of the Military would have thrown in his weight behind them otherwise.

Sure enough, Blake's cause gets a much needed boost, and soon enough from the brink of defeat he returns victorious, overthrowing his Federation.

Met a lot of interesting new people while at the party after the wedding (what a lovely thing it had been) and a little before. Will want to keep abreast with how things will go for that one girl, Astra 9, and that one fellow (Eric Jones) who recaptured Arlen when she tried to escape. That and get back with Orac....have much to talk with about there after this is all done.

That taken care of, we then turn back to taking care of the problems that another Leela and her Sevateem is facing in their reality.

We land and soon find the other Leela (Leela 2) having problems with Phantoms. Both Leela's meet and hit it off pretty well, which is nice. Don't need them at each other's throats, right? We are able to win the other Leela's trust AND cause a major distraction that'll draw off any hunters on the other Leela's tail (the noise those frustrated Phantoms give off while they keep trying to destroy B'elanna's rugged digital eggtimer will sure draw attention)!

That done, we begin to discuss our next course of action when a loud explosion rattles the landscape! Going in on dragonback (quickest means around) to see what had caused that explosion, we find that somebody has already taken steps to keep the Sevateem from going off on yet another useless raid against the Tesh!

Two other Champions (Elder ones at that) have arrived a bit earlier to halt things, and had barely been able to throw clear Neeva's talisman (a particalbeam accelerator with a charge in it) before it blew up! The clamped down on any incipient violence (Ader was going to strangle Neeva) and finally got around to introducing themselves to us.

We learn that they are Rugen and Morgana Wordeni, the same two elves that made a close encounter with Star Fleet and suggested setting up the new United Federation of Planet's HQ on Romulus (being that it was the least damaged major capital planet of the various Alpha Quadrant powers). They said that in addition to it being a good idea (despite how crazy it sounded), but the cleanup effort that would be done over the next few years there would clear the path for somebody that they'd hope to meet "somebody" there relatively soon (i.e. in a few hours back from where they were from...what with different rates of time passage between universes and all that....very "Michelle Moorecockish" Rugen said).

Being that we knew that we'd met the "sombody" in question already (the Roland the Gunslinger had mentioned something about being on Romulus)..... We keep quiet and nod. We swore to not speak about that business of past meeting future, so mums the word.
We then find out that these two had delayed their trip back (via the Doors of the Dark Tower) to aid us! They'd basically solved one stumbling block. We were able to get into the ship, bamboozle our way past these Tesh greeters in the same way we did before (believe that Leela 2 will have a lot of fun ribbing her sister for reacting before she did, despite being warned and all that). We then get Xoanon sane through means as seen on TV. We get the Doctor back to those elves who'd been "holding down the fort" back at the village, and Morganna performs this....magnificant healing spell that's got the Doctor up and going like nothing was the matter with him! Like he'd not gone through that mental struggle with Xoanon!

Amazing!
Morgana and I get into a discussion about this and that. Learn a lot, actually, about what it means to grow older and not age as a Champion! Seems that the older one Champion gets the more intelligent they get (something like what happens to elves from that one role playing game "Advanced Dungeons and Dragons"...except without the down side of loss of vigor and strength). Right now, Morganna and Rugan can hold their own and then some with the Doctor in the intelligence arena! Scary!
While the Tesh and Sevateem leaders are arguing over who should leave (soon after Andor exiled Neeva BTW), Leela 2 is looking for a way to get out of here when they start speaking about making her leader!
We make our escape with her as we continue back to the TARDIS, with Morgana and Rugen tagging along to wish us a fond farewell....and to ask a small favor.
"Welcome to the club!" Leela 1 says to her sister.

"And this favor?" the Doctor asks, "What can we do for you?"
Rugen tells about how they needed to get back to greet that one "somebody" and it being a bad idea to miss him, but explains that there's a problem happening over in another reality which might strike their fancy. Betty's, Ragan's, and Inquirer's in particular!
Gilmuriel
Rugen tells us who we need to help. A murder had happened and a certain detective duet had been interrupted with a side issue before the case could be solved. What was needed was to see what we could do in keeping him out of the wrong hands AND solving this murder case...amongst anything else us Champions feel must be done.... And there was enough magic present there for comfort...

"Who's R. Daneel Olivaw?" I ask, curious.

A bit later.....
