Doctor Who the Eternal Champion-Book 2 ch. 2: One thing after another....

The Never Ending Quest - episode

Elrondir

This could be very interesting.....

That, my friends, is what it turned out to be! Some twists and turns, with a bit of the future visiting the present to make things interesting and the end of the first quest....

Yes, we had to do more than one!

Now, let us just start from the start and proceed from there. While I and the others fly around in the TARDIS and as such can jump all over time willy nilly, I doubt you'd appreciate me doing that in a narrative, eh?

It might have worked for some movies I could name, but not for this.

Now, we were able to gain the aid of the other Doctor (nicknamed "the Professor" for ease of identification, much to his chagrin) and Ace as well as have a little satisfaction in seeing the Professor jump in surprise when he finally saw that the Doctor and Inquirer were married (and thus proving that the Doctor really wasn't his younger self).

It was a small, harmless thing, but satisfying nonetheless.

Now, due to time constraints and other factors, we all basically had to do a rushed version of the original show, more or less. That is, events played out in a similar way as did happen in this one article I found online:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/doctorwho/episode_guide/remembrance_daleks.shtml

It was rushed because of several things that involved time. Creator, we have access to a time machine and we had not enough time..... Well, griping aside we had the time limit upon us on just when the younger version of Dr. Who's analog brother, Dr. What, would show up with the thought in mind to finish up his business with the Hand of Omega. We had to finish first before that happened so that analog would believe that he had already done it....and it had somehow slipped his mind (plausible, considering that Dr. What, in his first Regeneration, had a spotty memory at times according to himself). Then, of course, was the fact we also wanted to rush along in order to save as many human lives as possible (human soldiers had died in the TV episode). Then there was the final reason for the mad dash: the pixie woman we freed!

It turns out that this was another analogous Fred who'd been transformed by an evil mage nicknamed the Oracle. Unlike other Freds, this one would not be able to survive the final adjustment to becoming something else (a female namely) with sanity intact. Male ego wouldn't take it and we had not the means to help. Fortunately the silvery prison that she wore had protected her from the effects of time traveling around in the TARDIS, else it would be too late for her....

With only one known source for the cure for her condition in the hands of that one good version of Zerm the Unspeakable, we had planned on (after finishing our business with the invading forces of the Dalleks) on traveling back in time to meet him before he erased all other means of access to his world. However,....

However, it seems that future events would lead up to him meeting us here!

B'Elanna

Seems that the Alantian mage had spied our future selves delving into Dr. Vincent's databanks before he could erase all traces of his world there. Rather miffed at that and not being able to figure out just how the TARDISes (both the Professor's and the Doctor's) worked, he grumpily traveled here in order to get some answers.

First we had to convince him that it wasn't through magic (the forces he was used to), but science instead. That surprised him to no ends, and maybe even made him a bit fearful of us (something, given the magical might he had at his disposal).

This said, this guy just is NOT the kind of guy I'd be comfortable around! Point in fact, after allowing us to continue (without the distractions of the now magically sleeping English military officer, his scientific advisor and such) our stuff with contacting the Dallek emperor in orbit. The Professor was able to enrage that tin can of an emperor into launching the Hand of Omega, which turned on him and destroyed first the homeworld of the Dalleks, and then the remaining Dallek forces. That's when Zerm, looking up magically and seeing the guy escape in a pod, struck out in anger.

This Zerm seems to have a sense of morality and justice, but it can be a cold and deadly thing. Couple that with a volatile temper, it was chilling. The Professor, in his official capacity granted him by being the President Elect of Gallifrey (albeit a fugitive one), had basically passed a death sentence upon the fleeing emperor. Zerm, feeling that the Professor's sentence was just, was not going to let the fugitive escape without meeting justice. He took his Crytallic and magically ripped the fugitive out of orbit and popped him (spell frozen) into the basement! Then, after explaining himself to us, he then carried out the sentence, Atlantis style.

Now, I don't know how mutated that sense of justice was in comparison to the shared ancestors both he and Roland Deschain (ala Midworld) seem to share, but in any case it was..... swift, I'll grant. Basically, the mage saw that the fugitive's life was over but felt that that living flesh could still serve a purpose. Thus, after having severed the original owner's spirit from the body, he transformed that husk into a female griffin (to help repopulate the depleted numbers back home).

.....

Well, we had hoped to finish our business as swiftly as possible (couldn't go elsewhere despite everything since he was the "only game in town"), but it turned out that it was harder said than done.

Well, the fate of this Fred the pixie was intertwined with two other victims of the Oracle. Some kind of mystical bond between all three existed. Without having them all present with the fix, then all would suffer a fate of insanity. If Fred the Pixie went mad, the others would follow (and vice versa). Without all present, any attempts at a cure (even with Crystallic), would fail disastrously. Any clues at their whereabouts lay in.....

His divinations led us to be teleported into the very lair of the Oracle (who Zerm told us was dead), only to run into a bit of excitement. The good news was that we ran into one of the two victims we were hunting for (a Fred transformed into the splitting image of Lt. Uhura from Star Trek: TOS), but the bad news was the person who'd hid out in one of the TARDISes also showed up.

Smith, the human quisling for the Dalleks, had eluded capture and stowed away inside the Professor's TARDIS (undetected by Zerm or out party). Finally getting out of the confusing place, he saw us and tried to mow us down with his gun, but instead destroyed a magical item that opened gates to other dimensions AND seriously wounding Captain Kirk (who'd insisted on coming along on yet another deadly dangerous away mission).....

Well, I'll hand over what happened next to our new friend, Uhura D'Honaire. She shall tell her story and our story as well as our since we soon joined forces.

See, we were after the same thing.

Uhura Frita-Nyota D'Honaire

My, where to begin in this story....

Once upon a time....

Imagine a Frederigo D'Honaire who, like a few other Freds, got entrapped by a powerful mage while seeking out to destroy "his" Dragon of the Southern Caverns and was forced to choose a set of clothing that would transform him into some kind of woman. From there, the transformed Fred would be teleported into their new fate and left there. In this Fred's case, he chose a red dress that turns out to be the one that you might have seen Lt. Uhura of Star Trek: TOS wear. Fred (let us call her "Uhura" from now on for convenience) found herself transported onto the Enterprise NCC-1701, with the memories and knowledge of the person she'd replaced. She had a misadventure and soon found herself down in Sickbay, strapped to a medical couch.

Click here for a synopsis of what happened.

Well, her new friends help her win free and regain control of the Enterprise. Between Uhura's hacking skills, the mage's magical powers, and Scotty's technical wizardry, we basically knocked them all out with anathezine gas and teleported them into our secure area where their alien controllers were neautralized. However, in the course of cutting off the alien influence the entities had been exerting through the unborn children, a strange thing happened. The unborn embryos original owners (i.e. the spirits within the embryos who's body the alien entities took over) regained control of their old bodies, and were.....rather scared. A link between mother and unborn child formed in every case, and the surprised mothers hearts were touched. To a woman, they all fell in love with their unborn child and vice versa. This would lead to a mass of resignations from Star Fleet by the Enterprise women, effective as soon as possible (i.e. the Enterprise is going to have a massive crew turnover). This included Uhura. Me! It accelerated her acceptance of her transformation and locked it in. She no longer though of herself as a male and lost all interest in returning to being a man. She wanted to go with her new family (the other D'Honaires) and raise her child as best she could on Terra Prime.

However, we needed to find the "real" Uhura, and we managed it (despite everything). Soon we arrived back at the very planet where this mess had started (in as far as most of the Enterprise women were involved). Spock tracked down, via a temperature anomaly, the place where the Oracle had punched a gate into this universe to spy upon the Enterprise (amongst other things). We all beamed down, and got through the gate....only to have all Hell break lose when Smith shot the Captain!

Part of the landing party was left back on the planet as the Gate collapsed. A "Redshirt" would have been cut in half as well by that collapse if Inquirer (the female Golem and wife to Dr. Who) hadn't thrown him clear.

It had severed her left hand in the process (extremely painful for her, let me tell you), but she.....regenerated it in quick order!

Amazing beings, these Golems!

Anyway, we soon were able to track down records and such of where the third victim of the Oracle (Lt. Uhura) was. We also found out that there was a link between all three of us and if something wasn't done, there would be trouble for all!

However, Uhura, in the course of things she helped track down and rescue the "real" Uhura (who'd been transformed into a three inch tall pixie)....and in order to help save the "real" Uhura, her and her unborn child's spirit were transplanted into the pixie (who was also with child) and vice versa.

See, Smith having injured the Captain meant that somebody had to stay behind to take care of him (else he'd die). That fell to the Professor and one of the Security folks with some medical training. The remaining members of the landing party (myself and Chekov) joined forces with Dr. Who's group and stepped onto the Earth of Betty. This was a world where Inquirer had a few....er....acquaintances within the "NSA" and called in old favors. We soon were able to track down (with our tricorders and magic) the traces of the last member of this triangle.....

Well, would it is hard to believe, but it turns out that the transformed Uhura (magically suffering from amnesia) had met up with a niece of this one NSA agent called "Brill". Delighted, the niece had kept the fairy's existence secret from Brill, but took her along with them to a Scifi/Fantasy convention. Uhura and the others were able to troop around, in our "regular" clothing and not get a suspicious glance....

Chekov and I got asked for autographs (and I got a lot of....comments....about how I looked in my uniform that I really didn't care for), but no suspicious people as we used magic and tricorders.

Wondeful places, these conventions!

Well, we were able to track down the "real" Uhura despite a few obstacles. Things like Chekov losing his temper with the actor who played his TV counterpart insulting (all staged, I'm sure) the actor who played the Captain and grabbed him. That stunt got all but Elrondir (invisible by a bit of magic and distraction), thrown out of the convention. Would have landed them in jail except for Inquirer convincing all that Chekov was actually suffering from mental problems (i.e. suffering from delusions that the TV show was real). Then there was that business of me (and my child) switching places with the "real" Uhura and the pixie unborn child. That caused the "real" Uhura, upon returning and getting that amnesia back (but not enough of it) to fear that those who'd done this to her (whatever exactly it was....couldn't remember) was now after her. Meaning that she thought that Jarlath's group was out to do her no good.

Brill took her to an NSA safehouse for safekeeping (standing orders being what they were to try to suppress the existence of magic to a public not ready for such.....yet). There, connections were made and we finally caught up to our fugitive pixie!

We got teleported back and then found out that in order to save us all without harming the unborn children, we had to do something drastic.

Having gotten caught up in the....appeal that my new family had....I willingly traded places with the "real" Uhura. The spirit of Uhura D'Honaire's unborn was siphoned into the unborn fey's body. That done, both Matrixes crystalized and.....

Forevermore a pixie she and he shall be!

Has changed her name to reflect her new lot in life (and to seal the transformation permanently). No longer calling herself Frederigo D'Honaire, she first changed her name to Uhura Nyota D'Honaire (taking her new first name from Lt. Uhura's last name and making that communication officer's first name her middle name). She added "Frita" later to her middle name to.....celebrate her transformation.

Was met by King Oberon and Queen Titania and soon ceded over to the Champions of Order and Chaos. This was done because like many recent fairy transformees who came into being through the Oracle, she had a religious belief that wasn't....compatible to the Fey. Originally, that had been a deliberate ploy by the Oracle, who knew that because of that the Seelie and Unseelie Court wouldn't claim the new Fey folk.....thus leaving them unaligned. Being unaligned would have been too much of a strain on the fairy's mind and it would snap, driving her permanently insane and dangerous. By ceding over Uhura to the Champions (making her a Champion as well in the process), that saved her from that.

Is now rasing her child (a male) back on Terra Prime. Also is currently taking magical lessons in order to get a better handle on her newfound magical powers.....

Now, three years later, it appears that more adventure is on it's way for some!

As I watch, I see that Cuthbert Allgood (the love interest of Joan D'Honaire) has become the newest Champion and now is going on a Quest of Validation to a land named Daria to rescue a Rebecca (a Stacy analog) before it's too late! As that is revealed, I also see that Dr. Who's group has found out that "Ace" has shown up on Dr. What's Earth (again), mysteriously (via a timestorm) and something about trouble around an English lake. That and something about Betty and Ragan saying something about an episode called "Battlefield".

As Joan and her friends (with Joan 2) form up to go with Cuthbert and Dr. Who's groups gear up for their adventure, I think of one thing as my child comes flying next to me: This will prove to be interesting for them both!

Ah, bvt let me tell you about it!!
