Inu Yasha is a hanyou. Meaning that he is 1/2 youkai, and 1/2 demon. His father was the great youkai of the west, and he had mated with a human. Before that, the dog youkai had mated with another youkai, and they had a son. Sesshomaru. Ever since Inu Yasha was born, Sesshomaru had hated him. Inu Yasha is a lonely, mean, and distant person, or hanyou ^_^. But it wasn't always like that. There is a horribly soft side in him, but never wanted to care about anyone. He was living a cursed life. Whoever he cared for had always died. He loved his parents, and they had died. Later when he tries to take the legendary shikon jewel, he meets Kikyo, a miko, who's duty was to protect the jewel. She had always killed anyone that would try to take the jewel. But she didn't kill Inu Yasha. Eventually, they fell in love. Then when it was agreed that they would use the jewel to turn Inu Yasha into a human. On the day of the meeting, another youkai, Naraku, had tricked them, making them think the other had betrayed them. Inu Yasha took the jewel, and Kikyo sealed him with an enchanted arrow, but also had died from a wound Naraku gave her. 50 years later, Kagome, a girl from the 20th century goes through a well which brings her to the sengoku jidai. She was the reincarnation of Kikyo. She had absentmindedly freed Inu Yasha of his imprisonment, and accidently broke the shikon jewel into many shards. They go on a journey to collect them. Later, a mononoke revives Kikyo, and the 2 meet a hentai monk who tells them of the real murderer of Kikyo. And another thing about Inu-Chan, on the night before the new moon, or the first day of the month when the moon disappears, Inu Yasha becomes a full human. No dog ears, claws, no nothing. First Appearence: Ep #1: "The girl who crossed over time and the sealed-away boy" Here's a nice Inu quote: Shippo: "Can we take a break?" Inu Yasha: "We can have a break when you get over your seasickness." Shippo: "Inu Yasha, come here for a moment" (Insert barfing sounds here) Hehehe! I love that one!
Kikyo is a miko/priestess that protected the Shikon no tama. She had killed all youkai who had tried to steal it. Of course, she didn't kill Inu Yasha cuz he was a hanyou ^_^. As you all know, Kikyo and Inu Yasha fell in love, Naraku tricked them blah blah blah. Ok, skip to the interesting parts. Kikyo is dead, but a mononoke, Kijo Urasue (she was damn ugly), had revived her. But, we also know that she was reincarnated to Kagome! So Kijo Urasue took Kagome, and transferred the souls. Though the mononoke should have total control of Kikyo, Kikyo had somehow blocked the spells and killed Kijo Urasue (Yay!). She had tried to kill poor heartbroken Inu Yasha, but Kagome had somehow took her soul back. While Kikyo tried to get away, she fell off a cliff. Everyone thought she was dead, until they went to this town who had many female souls taken. That's when they found out Kikyo was still alive! And she got worse, she tricked inu Yasha by kissing him!!! Than she tried to kill him. I still don't know what happened yet, I just saw eps. 19-22 today, so wait until I get the rest of the info! First appearence: Ep #1: "The girl who crossed over time and the sealed-away boy" Kikyo quotes: "That's what you wanted all along isn't it? To see my death?!"
Kagome is the reincarnation of Kikyo. She comes from the future and WAS a normal Japanese schoolgirl. One day, she went to get her cat, Buyo out of the Bone Eater's well, then a centipede youkai comes and pulls her through the well. She doesn't know that she had the shikon no tama and had used it's power to go to the Sengoku Jidai (Feudal Era/Warring States Period) There, she finds out she's Kikyo's reincarnation and broke Inu Yasha's seal. When she was trying to save the tama from a crow youkai, she accidentally shattered the jewel with an arrow into a million peices. She and Inu Yasha had started their journey to get all the shards back and put them together. Along the way, Kagome figures out that she likes Inu Yasha and gets hurt real badly when that evil Kikyo tied her to the tree and kissed Inu Yasha! But she soon found out that Inu Yasha didn't really love Kikyo, like Naraku said "How was that trust between you and Kikyo broken so easily?". I'm not sure, but I think at the end, Kagome stays with Inu Yasha in the Sengoku Jidai. First Appearence: Ep #1: "The girl who crossed over time and the sealed-away boy". Quote: "INU YASHA! SIT!" That's a real classic.
Shippo is a fox demon and first appeared to steal the Shikon shards. He wanted them so he could be stronger and defeat the 2 thunder brothers Hiten and Manten. Those 2 had killed his father. Shippo didn't have enough power to defeat them. He eventually started traveling with Kagome and Inu Yasha. He always argue with Inu Yasha and earns him a 'sit'. First appearence: Ep #9: "Enter Shippou! The Lightning-Beast brothers Hiten and Manten" Quote: "Inu Yasha, how far have you gone with Kagome?"
Miroku is a, believe it or not, a perverted monk. He is cursed with a hole in his right hand that can suck things in. But though it sounds good for protection, it shortens his life. The curse was given to his grandfather by the evil hanyou, Naraku. It was passed on to the other generations for 50 years so far. And in order for the curse to be gone, Naraku must be defeated. So each generation had gone after Naraku, but then the grandfather and father of Miroku had died early. It is now up to Miroku. He is strong though, he protects himself with his staff and was poisoned and near death twice, but managed to survive. The first time was when Naraku got in contact with Sesshomaru and gave him a hive to use against Miroku's hole. Second time was when he sucked in a mantis youkai into his hand. First appearence: Ep #16: "The delinquent priest with the right hand air rip, Miroku" Quote: "Will you bear my chind?"
Sango is a youkai exterminator that was born in the village where the Shikon jewel was created. Sango comes from a family of youkai exterminators. She uses a giant boomerang (don't ask) and her pet, the cat youkai, Kirara, can change sizes, so Sango can ride on her. When she, her dad, and her brother Kohaku, went to Naraku's castle, Naraku killed her dad and posessed Kohaku and almost killed Sango. Sango thought Kohaku was dead, but Naraku had placed a shikon shard in his body. Naraku had erased all of Kohaku's memory, and in exchange for Kohaku's life, Sango had to bring Inu Yasha's sword, the Tetsusaiga, to Naraku and give it to him. She managed to steal the Tetsusaiga, but I don't know what happens next. I'm still waiting for the new Inu Yasha issue... First Appearence: Ep #24: "Enter Sango, the Demon Exterminator!" Quote: "Kohaku could never have commit such a henious deed..."
More to come soon!
