| Role Playing Lingo Here are some basic terms used in Role Playing OOC: Out Of Character. You should put this before any comment you have to make that is personal. Usually this is at the end or the beginning of a message. IC: In Character. This is for all comments, discription, and Role Play action. Usually you only have to label your In Character Remarks when you have used an OOC in the same post. Moding: This is when you take control over some one elses character or extreme control of the scenery or refuse to take hits. God-Moding: This is similar to moding, but it is playing an invicible character with unlimited power that won't take hits. Mary Sue: This is a character that is practically perfect in every way. NPC: This is a Non Persona Character. These are usually only used in a few posts and are of little importance. Examples: Waitresses, stable boys, random bad guys, villagers, bar tenders, etc.. Some Basic Rules of Play 1) Your character should take hits and have flaws. In other words, no God-moding or Mary Sues. 2) Typos are understandable, but please try to have proper grammer. 3) Typically it is bad manners to kill others characters unless it is authorized. 4) We are not writing a novel here. Don't post mind-numbingly long posts. Description is wonderful, but don't go "Anne Rice" on us. 5) Don't just vanish without a trace. 6) Keep OOC arguements OFF the board. If you have an arguement with someone take it to e-mail. |
