They are getting pretty desperate as there are a lot of people needed! There's a list below of the slots that they still need to fill. Note that many of them are only 1 hour long and some are before or after the Fair so you will have plenty of time to work a shift and still attend the College Fair yourself. They will be mailed out shortly thereafter. Only students with a grade of D or F or a U in work habits or citizenship will be reported by teachers. If your student does not receive a progress report it means that they have at least a C average in every class. o New High Tide Student Newspaper Out The latest "High Tide", the student newspaper, was distributed on Friday, Oct. 8. As always, you should take the time to read this publication as you can find out a lot about what is going on at the high school. Articles in this issue include: "Student Congress fosters participation", "Construction late, but progressing", and an in-depth feature on the out of pocket costs of getting a public education. There was also an interesting editorial "Education budget cuts have been unfairly targeted at high schools instead of the whole education system." The newspaper is available on-line, but it seems to take awhile before it gets posted. The Sept. 24 addition is now available at http://my.highschooljournalism.org/ca/redondobeach/ruhs/. o Freshman ASB Representatives The selected Freshman ASB representatives are Jessie Britton, Jeff Kim, Robby Horn, Nicole Garcia, and Heidi Van de Wouw. o What is the No Go List? You are on the "No Go List" if you have: - 2 or more U's in citizenship - Under a 2.0 GPA - Owe money for library or textbook charges - Owe money for ASB fees - Have not served an assigned detention If you are on the "No Go List", you will not be allowed to attend extracurricular activities such as the Homecoming Dance. o Yearbooks on Sale If you didn't order your yearbook at registration, you can still order one in Room 202 anytime between now and Dec. 16. The cost is $70 with an ASB card and $80 without the card. o Crack Down on Unacceptable Bus Behavior Undercover LA County Sheriffs are now riding the MTA busses in order to eliminate inappropriate behavior. I understand there is a stiff fine and parents have to pick up their children if they are cited. The MTA also has the right to revoke their bus riding privileges. Make sure your kids understand they need to follow the rules on the bus or they won't be riding them for long! o Help Needed to Bar Code Books in School Library The PTSA has been asked to help find volunteers to bar code books in the school library. Contact Anita Avrick at 376-5719 or anitapta@adelphia.net if you can help. CONGRATULATIONS o Rebecca Sopp came in 1st place in the women's age 15-17 category in the recent Manhattan Beach 10K.
