The meeting will be followed by the presentation of students awards. These students were recommended by their teachers for a unique contribution - something "outside the box" of the usual academic or athletic recognitions. o API (Academic Performance Index) Base Reports Released The California Department of Education released the 2004 API Base School Reports on Mar. 15. RUHS's score was 754 (out of 1000). Last year's score was 743. The state's goal is that all schools should score 800 or above. This is a high energy event, full of fun for the whole family. Beach Cities Robotics Team 294 is made up of students from both RUHS and Mira Costa. New members are always welcome. o 2 Hosts Needed for One Week of Mexico Student Exchange Over 50 students from Mexico City will be coming to Redondo from April 18-May 1. Two students need host families for only one week - one for the first week (Apr. 18-25) and one for the second week (Apr. 25-May 1). The cashier will look up the school code. o Albertsons/Sav-On: http://www.albertsons.com/abs_inthecommunity/ RUHS PTSA Partner ID: 49001001722 CONGRATULATIONS: o The Dance Guard earned 4 first place trophies at their recent competition as well as 2 second place and 2 third place trophies. o The Concert Band received a superior rating at the Fullerton High School Concert Festival on Mar. 11 qualifying them, for the 4th year in a row, for the Regional Festival. o Anita Avrick was awarded a PTA Golden Oak Service Award at the recent Honorary Service Awards Ceremony. The Golden Oak is the most prestigious PTA award in California. This award is given to individuals that have made significant contributions to the welfare of children and youth in the school or community. Over the years, Anita served as President of the Beryl Heights PTA, where she did the first Jog-a-thon, as the President of the Adams PTSA, where she was one of the people responsible for bringing in Hands on Art, and is currently the President of our RUHS PTSA. Anita also served on countless committees and held many PTA board positions including spots on the Redondo Beach Council and the 33rd District PTA. Sgt. Wayne Windman was awarded a PTA Honorary Service Award at the same ceremony for his involvement with the DARE program for many years. Windman was the DARE officer at RUHS. He traveled, on his own time, with some of our students to teach the program at other schools.
