Redondo kids to and from school? The MTA is holding a public hearing this Wednesday, Mar. 10, at the City of Carson Community Center on 801 East Carson Street in Carson. A group of us are planning to go this meeting to protest the elimination of these lines. Send me an email at: leewagner.family@verizon.net if you are interested in carpooling with us. It is important to have a strong showning at the meeting. For more details on the bus situation, read the article that appeared this week in the "Easy Reader": http://easyreader.hermosawave.net/news2002/storypage.asp?StoryID=20023622&IssuePath=news2004/0304/ o Send Emails by Mar. 15 to MTA on Bus Line Elimination Please send written comments to the MTA protesting their elimination of the student bus lines. They are only accepting comments through Monday, Mar. 15, so it is important to send your comments now. There is hope that, at the very least, the routes will be maintained during the peak student periods in the morning and afternoons if enough people state their need for these busses. The easiest method to communicatate with the MTA is to send them an email titled "2004 Service Changes" at: customerrelations@mta.net. Even if your kids don't ride the bus, there are other reasons you might be interested in this issue. - Elimination of busses will make the traffic problems around the school even worse. - Lack of transportation for N. Redondo students might motivate more people to apply for permits to Mira Costa; that's money out of the school district's pocket. o Don't Miss "Damn Yankees" Musical - Starts Mar. 18 Presales for the Spring Musical, "Damn Yankees", start on Monday, Mar. 8. Buy your ticket now for only $5 from any Drama Club Member. Presales end on Mar. 17. Regular prices are $6 for students and senior citizens and $8 for general admission. The dates/times for the performances are: Thursday/Friday, Mar. 18-19 at 7pm, Friday/Saturday, Mar. 26-27 at 7pm and a Sunday matinee on Mar. 28 at 2pm. All performances are in the RUHS auditorium. Note there is a slight schedule change from the dates printed in the Planner because the auditorium was rented out to someone else on one of original Saturday dates. Ms. Foley, Drama Director, says, "Its an exciting play and the kids are doing a great job!" o Deadline for CSF 2nd Semester Applications Friday CSF (California Scholarship Federation) recognizes academic achievement and is the only "honor society" at RUHS. If you received mostly A's on your semester report card, pick up an application in Room 215. The deadline to return the completed application and your $5 dues payment is this Friday, Mar. 12. Students at all grade levels are eligible to apply. Remember, CSF membership looks good on college applications and scholarship forms. There is a lot of great parent info in the planner - check it out.) o Save June 19 for RB Ed Foundation's Gala Make sure you have Saturday, June 19, on your calendar for the Redondo Beach Education Foundation's "Cruisin' Into Summer" Gala.
