Senior Nick Spears will be moderating the debate. The questions will be geared toward teen issues. This is a must for 18-year old students voting for the first time and should be interesting for younger students and parents as well. o Register Your Albertsons Card so RUHS PTSA Gets Kickback If you shop at Albertsons or Sav-on, you can help the RUHS PTSA make money with almost no effort on your part. All you have to do is register your Preferred Savings Card on-line to designate RUHS PTSA as one of your Partners. This should only take a few minutes - do it now while you're thinking about it. Ask your friends and family to designate RUHS PTSA too. 1. Get out your Preferred Savings Card - you'll need to enter the number on the back of the card later. 2. Go to: http://www.albertsons.com/abs_inthecommunity/ 3. Click on the "Albertsons Community Partners" logo on the right side of the window under "See Also:" 4. Click on "Shoppers login or register with your preferred Savings Card first" 5. Enter the number on the back of your Preferred Saving Card and your phone number 6. Click on "My Account" on the top, right of the window 7. Click on "Add a Partner" 8. Enter our ID number: 49001001722 and click Add Partners. (Or you can enter Redondo in the Name field, "Find Partners", and then select our PTSA.) 9. If RUHS is your only partner, be sure 100% is entered for the percentage. Note you can have up to 4 different partners, so if you have kids at Parras or Adams or one of the elementary schools, you can split your percentages however you want. 10. Click on "Update Now" to save your choice. If you don't have a Preferred Savings Card, you can order one at step 4 above. If you shop at Albertsons, you really should have one, otherwise you are missing out on all their specials. Once you register RUHS as your partner, the cashier just needs to run your Preferred Savings Card each time you shop at Albertsons or Sav-on. The amount of "kickback" the PTSA receives is a sliding percentage depending on how much you spend per month. If you spend less than $250, the PTSA gets 1% of your purchases. It moves up to 4% of your purchases over $500. This fundraiser adds up. Adams Middle School made almost $550 last quarter and we have a lot more students than they do. The extra funds could help the PTSA provide busses for more field trips. Currently, the PTSA is having to turn down some requests due to lack of funds. o AP Test Fees Now Due The collection of fees for Advanced Placement tests is now underway. Please bring a check or money order for $82 per test to Room 202. The deadline to pay your test fees is Friday, March 25. No exceptions. Please see your AP teacher or Ms. Rodriguez if you have any questions. o Student Volunteer Opportunities - The Volunteer Center offers one-time and ongoing volunteer opportunities. Check http://www.volctr-sobay.org/ or go to the Career Center for their current list. - The Richstone Family Center needs volunteers to help with their annual Easter party and egg hunt on March 19. To volunteer, contact Erica Mangham at 970-1921, ext. 137 or rfcvolunteers@yahoo.com. o Donate Paper Towels/Cotton Balls to Ecology Club Help the Ecology Club help the California Wildlife Center by donating paper towels and/or bags of cotton balls. Turn them in at Room 704 or 107. o Free Clipper Tickets for 3.0 Semester GPA If you received a 3.0 GPA or higher on your semester report card and no more than one U, you are eligible to receive free Clipper tickets. See Ms. Frith or Ms. Wesley before March 10 to pick up your Clippers 3.0 Student Voucher. The voucher is good for either of two games at the Staples Center: Mar. 21 (Portland Trailblazers) or Mar. 25 (Washington Wizards). Great seats! Hurry and submit your student voucher as tickets will be given on a first come, first serve basis. o PTSA and Career Center Looking for Bingo Volunteers The PTSA still needs bingo volunteers for Sunday, Mar. 6. There are 2 time shifts: 11am-2:30pm and 2:30-5:30pm. Please email Marianne Carlton-Felix at mcarlton@kpmg.com if you can help. The Career Center needs bingo help on Sunday, Mar. 20. Contact Karen Morris at 798-8665, ext. 220 or kmorris@bnet.org to sign up. o Host Families Needed for Mexico City Student Exchange Over 50 students, mostly girls, from Mexico City will be coming to Redondo from April 18-May 1. Many more host families are still needed. Please contact Connie Smith at 798-8665 x2404 or csmith@bnet.org if you can help. This is a great opportunity to reinforce your student's Spanish skills and learn about another culture. Profile sheets on the visiting Mexican students are available now in Room 404. If you signed up to host, drop by to pick out a student. ABOUT THIS EMAIL: The intent of this email is to communicate information about RUHS on a weekly basis during the school year.
