Click on "Playoffs" at the top, then "Basketball Girls", "Basketball Boys", or "Soccer Girls". At the bottom of the page, you need to pick the division. For basketball, RUHS is in Division IIA. For soccer, they are in Division I. Please let me know if I missed any other RUHS teams that are in the CIF playoffs. - Surf Team Makes State Finals The RUHS Surf Team recently made the state finals. Chad Elliot, Senior, was all league champion for short board and Dylan Thomas, Junior, was all league champion for longboard. Look for the times and dates of the State meet in the on-line bulletin. o School Board Candidate Forum Wednesday at 7pm Be sure to attend the School Board Candidate Forum this Wednesday, Feb. 23, from 7-9pm in the Noble Gallery (Science Building, Room 108). The Redondo Beach PTA Council is hosting this free forum. Other sources for learning more about the school candidates are the Beach Reporter's spread in the Feb. 17 issue comparing the answers of the 12 candidates on 6 questions and the web site sponsored by the League of Women's Voters: http://www.smartvoter.org/2005/03/08/ca/la/race/144/. o Report Cards Out Did you see your student's semester report card? Ours arrived in Saturday's mail. If yours seems to have gotten lost, be sure to contact the school. o Look for Feb. 18 Edition of High Tide The latest edition of the student newspaper, "High Tide", came out on Friday, Feb. 18. Be sure to ask to see your student's copy. o Juniors: Free SAT Practice Test April 2 Kaplan is offering a free SAT 2005 practice test on Saturday, Apr. 2, from 9am-1pm at Loyola Marymount University (University Hall Room 1859). Participants must bring a #2 pencil and a calculator. Call 1-800-KAP-TEST to make a reservation. o Want to be Contacted in an Emergency? Update Your Info! The attendance office needs to update emergency contact numbers in the student database. If any of your phone numbers have changed, please contact Judy Raskin at 798-8665, ext. 2017 or 2018. Alternate contact numbers - work phone numbers, cell phone numbers, as well as other authorized contacts who the school may call in an emergency (such as a local relative, local friend of the family, or a neighbor) - also need to be updated. Many parents have not updated their information since their child first registered at the high school, so the data for grades 10-12 is getting out of date. Wouldn't you hate to have the school hear a "this number is no longer in service" or "I'm sorry you must have the wrong number" message in an emergency situation? o PTSA and Career Center Looking for Bingo Volunteers The PTSA still needs bingo volunteers for Sunday, Mar. 6. There are 2 time shifts: 11am-2:30pm and 2:30-5:30pm. Please email Marianne Carlton-Felix at mcarlton@kpmg.com if you can help. The Career Center needs bingo help on Sunday, Mar. 20. Contact Karen Morris at 798-8665, ext. 220 or kmorris@bnet.org to sign up. o Host Families Needed for Mexico City Student Exchange Over 50 students, mostly girls, from Mexico City will be coming to Redondo from April 18-May 1. Many more host families are still needed. Please contact Connie Smith at 798-8665 x2404 or csmith@bnet.org if you can help. This is a great opportunity to reinforce your student's Spanish skills and learn about another culture. Profile sheets on the visiting Mexican students are available now in Room 404. If you signed up to host, drop by to pick out a student. CONGRATULATIONS o The top scoring Redondo students in last week's CAML contest were Genevieve Williams, Tim Martin, Chloe Siu, Logan Ganter, and Jonathan Chacon. They each scored 5 out of 6.
