The Tyra Banks show featuring RUHS is scheduled to air on Friday, Dec. 23. Check http://tyrashow.warnerbros.com/ during that week to confirm the show date. Per the site, the shows airs in Los Angeles on Fox Channel 11 at 10am and KCOP Channel 13 at 5pm. You have the option of purchasing additional tickets at a discounted price. o Special Bingo Night Tuesday - Come out and Play There is a special Bingo Night this Tuesday, Dec 13. For once, you are not being asked to WORK bingo, but come out and PLAY. This will be the deciding night as to whether the attendance justifies bringing back regular Tuesday night bingo. The first game starts at 6:30pm and ends about 10pm. The cost is $20 for one packet, $25 for one packet plus some "extras", or $30 for two packets. Each packet covers about 20 games of bingo and there is a $250 prize for each game. The Sea Hawk Boosters, who run Bingo, not only provide fundraising opportunities for all the various groups, clubs, and schools in the district, but also provide scholarships and contribute to many other things throughout the year. If you have any questions, contact Kathy Swift at swift_k@hotmail.com. She welcomes any new players to join her at her table on Tuesday and she'll help explain the nuances of the games. o Beach City Robotics Meeting on Saturday - Looking for New Members The next meeting of Beach Cities Robotics is Saturday, Dec. 17, at 9am, in the RUHS Auto Shop (620 Diamond St.) Students will be getting welding training. If you are interested in science. engineering, and technology, this is a great time to join the team as the exciting competition season will be kicking off on Jan. 7 followed by a 6-week build period. Mr. Van Swearingen has recently agreed to be the faculty advisor for a robotics club so students can meet on a regular basis during the week besides the Saturday meetings. For more information on the team, check http://www.bcrobotics.org. o Change bnet.org Email Addresses to rbusd.org As discussed last week, the school email addresses are changing over to rbusd.org from bnet.org. However, I understand that while the new addresses are working inside the district network, staff members are still not able to receive outside email. Hopefully, everything will be running a little more smoothly by the time the holiday break is over.
