ABOUT THE FOUNDER

I am an African female--born in America but I am currently residing in Naples Italy, where I have lived for the past 2 years.  I am well educated but I place little value on such degrees, for my most valuable educational experiences have occurred in the school of life.  Living the 'AFRICAN EXPERIENCE' in America has truly been an education--an education, which helped me to see the necessity of creating Sisters of the Sun.

The African Experience within me has stimulated, a genuine love and compassion for my people.  This powerful love and compassion has stemmed from an increase in awareness of the unique psychological challenges facing people of African origin.  Though I believe all of humanity is of African origin, the term will be used here to refer to people who consider themselves to be African, African-American or Black.

I have obtained a great amount of information confirming the lack of appreciation for, as well as the outright denial of the contributions our ancestors gave to the world.  Further, I have watched my people suffer some of the most extreme levels of hatred known to mankind--levels of hatred that I cannot ignore because they have contributed to the injury of my soul.  It pains me to know what my people have to face on a daily basis--the systematic attempts of many European's to debase, degrade and destroy them.  It pains me even more to witness the unique psychological problems and hidden insecurities many people of African origin now exhibit as a result of the many different forms of racial predudice and racism they have experienced.  I feel I have an obligation--a duty to serve and assist my people as they work towards the necessary healing that such unnecessary hatred and cruelty has called for.  As an effort to carry out my objective my focus must be on maintaining a genuine concern for the group--a genuine concern for the health and welfare of my people.

The Sisters group was designed as a means for me to express my concern for the group and to attract other sisters who would like to join me in my efforts.

My personal passion for helping my people does not imply that I am not interested in helping humanity as a whole.  It only implies that I recognize the very special needs of people of African origin and that I have made the decision to become active in addressing them.

YES, I plan to put a DENT in this world--to BUST THE DOOR WIDE OPEN so that change can enter in and my people (your people) can truly be FREE.  You, my sister, are free to join me.
