The following statements are excerpts taken from Margrit Roloff's book  "The Miniature Schnauzer - a book for Breed Enthusiasts".

The research has been taken from original German Archives as well as personal accounts of several outstanding individuals, some deceased, but some still among us, who made her book possible, and subsequently, my ability to share this with the English Speaking world.

I  in no way take credit for any of the information translated as it was taken directly from Margrit Rolloff's book which is available for sale in Germany, and includes many beautiful photos.

.....Some of the common misconceptions about the White Miniature Schnauzer are that their white coat is as a result of an "albino" related gene.  Are they a form of "Albino"       NO....
The White Miniature Schnauzer produces pigment, like any other normal mammel of "colour"

It is a natural genetic variation that may in fact have saved some "new" species from the Ice Age following the dinosaur........and because the wolf, which is considered the "actual" ancestor of the  "modern domestic" dog has the genetic ability to vary itself to remarkable feats of adaptation, from the Arctic tot he long divided land of Australia, where the "Dingo" has developed with very little influence of Man, that we see is a wide variety of a semi-domesticated canine to hunting for its own food, and travels in packs without making a sound.......It is very interesting to note that some species i.e. the Giraffe or Elephant, among most animlas have a very unflexible genetic makeup which would never allow the variations found today in the "modern canine",  the dog...But due to this highly variable gene in the canine, we have been able to produce dogs of same genetic formula such as the Irish Wolfhound, the hairless Chihuahua, the English Bulldog and the Poodle (previously spelled in Europe ad the Pudel).
