Here is an excellent book for those looking for material requiring advanced technique and high technical exposure. Each solo concentrates on a specific area of rudimental development. Carroll, ed.; The Drummers' and Fifers Guide, New York (Pond) 1864. Current edition published by George P. Carroll, Reston VA. This is an actual reproduction of a classic civil war era fifers and drummers manual. The Carroll edition contains additional material typeset on computer. This is a vital piece for those seeking an historical perspective of rudimental drumming. |
