1. A well socialized rat will not bite. The only reasons a rat should bite are if you are hurting it, or you smell like somthing yummy! Now I'm not saying it doesn happen, but by their nature it is not common. Socializing is the key to a friendly rat!

2. Rats like being handled. Unlike hamsters, rats love to crawl all over you, and be held & cuddled. They LOVE being scratched & petted.

3. Rats are very entertaining. Especially females. They love to climb & explore, especially in search of food & treats!

4. Rats are very intellegent. They can tell you apart from others, they can be litter box trained, and even learn how to manipulate you into giving them more treats!

5. Rats are very social & friendly animals. As soon as your rats see you, they will run up to the side of the cage & press their noses against the side & beg for your attention. They love to be with you. Unlike other animals such as hamsters, who just want to be left alone to sleep. Rats are very social creatures. That also means that they need to live in groups of two or more, or will get very depressed & lonely. Even males.

6. Rats will interact with you. When you let them out for playtime, they will come to your side and look at you as if to say "hey let's play!" They love lots of attention, and will even see you as a safe haven and run to be under your protection when scared.

7. Rats can be taught tricks. There's a variety of them out there, and with enough Love, Patience, & TREATS!! you can train your rat to do all kinds of things.

8.Rats are very Loving. Especially males & older rats. Females are more active, and tend to play more, while males like to get big, fat & lazy cuddling with you.

9. Rats are great pets for kids. They are very interactive, love attention, and kids just love them! All of our kids just adore them, even our 7 month old daughter who screams when we take them away!
