1. Mice are very social animals. If you spend time with them & interact often, they will get over their initial fear of you and will love the interaction of coming out to play. However due to the fact that they are social animals, this means that they need to live in groups of at least two or more. This mainly goes for females. Males are known to be very territorial and will fight each other for their property. Although it can sometimes be done, more often than not you will have to end up separating your males into individual cages. So sometimes it's just best getting one male if you are not prepared to get a second cage if nessessary. Supposedly it should be possible for two males to live together if introduced at a very young age & hopefully from the same litter, but I have found that once they reach a certain age, they will start fighting their once best friend. The end result could be death if not seperated. Females absolutely have to live with other females. If not they won't be a very good pet to have around, they will spend most of their time sleeping and will become depressed. I also need to add that male mice do omit a musky scent to mark their territory, and when there is more than one male they tend to mark their cage more, creating a stronger odor.

2. Mice are easy to maintain. They of course need food and water daily, and usually you can get away with changing the litter every few days to up to a week, with a complete cage cleaning at least once a week. With stronger smelling males, this with most likely need to be more often. use your own good judement, and clean it before it starts to stink. If you leave some of the old litter in while cleaning the cage, males are less likely to mark their territory as much.

3. A well socialized mouse will not bite! Unlike most hamsters!  It is not in a mouses nature to bite. the only reason a mouse may have to bite you is if you are hurting them, or you smell like somthing good to eat! Mice are very sweet animals.

4. Mice are very playful & curious about everything. It's so easy to entertain a mouse! And they are always checking everything out. they are so much fun to watch & play with. the simplest things with keep them busy.

5. Mice have individual personalities. while one may like to spend most of its days running in a wheel, (a necessity for mice!) anouther may rather climb, and cuddle. LIke their colors, each one is different.

6. Mice are active animals. Again, unlike most hamsters! Instead of just laying there all day, mice love to run, climb, jump, crawl, tunnel, and do all kinds of things.

7. Mice are great first pets, because they are so agreeable, and again, easy to maintain.

8. MICE ARE EXCELLENT FOR CHILDREN!!! Since mice are so easy to take care of, are so active & fun, and don't bite, they make a great pet for kids!!  We have a 6 year old, a 3 year old, and a 7 month old, and they all love them!! Our six year olds interest is what started all of this, and he owns our two males, and is very capable of taking care of them. Our three year old was easily taught how to hold it gently and play with it. (our 7 months old is still at the age where she wants to squeeze it to death!) the kids have a great time setting up obsticles for the mice to run & play on, just using their own toys!

9. AND THEIR SO DARN CUTE!! Need I say more? LOL
