| Morecambe Football Club are situated in the fifth tier of the English game (The Conference). Morecambe have never been higher than the Conference, finishing second one year but losing out on penalties in a play-off semi-final against Dagenham & Redbridge in the cruelest of circumstances. Morecambe were 2-0 up and were heading towards the play-off final until a goal from Dagenham & Redbridge deep into stoppage time forced the game into extra time and untimately penalties. The season 2004-05 Morecambe started poorly, having lost several key players early on to injury, but after Christmas they started to find some form getting into the play-off positions. On the final day of the season Morecambe started in 4th, a win away at Tamworth would have secured their position in the play-offs without needing other scores to go their way. Morecambe only managed a 0-0 results and every other result went against them, leaving them in 7th at the end of a hard fought season, two places out of the play-offs. Morecambe will continue to look forward for the following season hoping to get into the play-offs once again. | Christie Park, home of Morecambe FC |
