Good Times To Be Had By All (Part 2) 8-26-2005 3:44 AM
We arose the next morning arouns midday and two hours later I was off. After a sad goodbye from Neilly (although we will meet again in less than three weeks at uni) I headed off to Helensburgh over the Erskine Bridge. I met up with the old mother and gran before embarking on the aunties (Jan) house. Spent the rest of the day chilling out, checked into the hotel and collected my brother (Peter) from Glasgow Central station.
That night me and Peter returned to the hotel at around 9ish where we met our uncle-to-be (Chris) and he invited us out for a few drinks with the best man (Andy) and next door neighbour (Norm). So we joined them for a few hours in the Rhu Inn, a small, friendly pub a few metres opposite the hotel. We had a few pints, listened to the live band and chatted away about a range of things before heading back to the hotel where we sat in the bar (which had to be opened specially) until around 3am when we departed to bed.
Got up early the next day around 8am, totally knackered and feeling like crap with my tooth still giving me some serious aggro. Despite all this we headed off for breakfast and then off to my aunties house to get ready for the wedding. After a few more trips back and forth to the hotel we eventually had everything set, got changed and set off for the wedding, late of course. I was the chaffeur for the wedding, driving Peter, Jan (The Bride) and my mum (Bridesmaid) in my uncles rather nice Landrover with ribbons and a bow on it, awesome stuff. The wedding itself went very smoothly, except Jan not really wanting to go down the aisle and us almost dragging her down the aisle (me and my brother were the ones who had to give her away) and Chris s**tting bricks at the end of the aisle! After the short ceremony we moved through into another room for champagne and then into the garden for a mass of photos. The decorations for the whole wedding were done by a family friend as a present to the happy couple and were unbelievable. As Jan and Chris love diving everything was on a sea theme. There were shells on every table, the cake had shells, there were bigger shells around the room, balloons, boats, shells on the backs of chairs and so much more I can barely remember. The meal followed this around 3:30pm with me trying to get hold of the football scores for most of the time (Leeds won 2-0! So all was well). The meal was pretty darn perfect followed by some very interesting speeches with some even more interesting stories thrown in.
The rest of the night was alright but the only people who were my age were two nieces on my uncles side of the family who were, quote "checking us out" for the entire time. Lol. Well what else do you expect? The first dance by the bride and groom was an interesting one. Andy made an announcement for the first dance by the bride and groom and made it known that Chris never ever dances. The couple got up and fumbled around for a minute before saying to the DJ to change the music and then from nowhere danced like professionals leaving Andy gobsmacked. For the past thirty odd weeks they had been going to dance classes for just this moment! Awesome stuff.
The next morning we headed back to Jans house for a buffet and after a few hours there I drove me and Peter home which took around four hours of boring motorway driving. After all this action which believe me I could have gone on for pages and pages more about this I was totally knackered so went to the pub music quiz at the D and P with Tom and Mexy. We did totally crap but had a good time catching up with each other again. Since sunday night all thats happened is I went round to Tom and Mexy's for one night had a laugh and watched War of the World. Totally crappy film. On Wednesday night we returned to the D and P for the old classic quiz but sadly the questions went against us and we got slightly crushed but we did help out another team next to us who seemed to know a lot of answers so we might be able to use them again in future quizzes I think. I did get the feeling that the winners of this weeks quiz must have cheated because they came out with a score of 56 out of 60! That seems a little unreal to me. Not sure what else is happening this week, I have mainly been lying around recovering from my time and getting a few things ready for university again. Although Morecambe Vs Crawley is on tomorrow afternoon, hopefully another easy win!
Good Times To Be Had By All (Part 1) 8-25-2005 1:35 PM
Well, well, well. What a cool last two weeks of entertainment. Two weeks ago on the wednesday night I went to pub quiz at D and P with Tom and Mexy and for the first time ever we did reasonably well, not too far off the winners, but we still failed :(
The following night I got a phone call from the Lemon informing me that Chow was back for one night and they were coming round to get me for a "quality" night out. After an interesting car ride to the house of doom we started on the old vodka and cranners (cranberry juice). After a few stiff drinks we headed off to the establishment named Walkabout. We had a good few wee drams and met up with around 30 people we used to go to school with and a range of others too. Felt like an actual reunion. We headed off to Hustle where we had a couple of TVRs and Chow passed out and died. After a long time of just sitting there laughing at Chow unconscious and singing "Panthers till I die" with Stephen (old fellow Panther from primary school), we moved in the direction of Toast. Chow woke up and tried to chat up a worker from Hustle on the street but just ended up collapsing on the floor in a pile of his own drool. Me and the lemon went into Toast for the well renouned "Motown Night" while Chris, Mexy and Chow went to Liquid (yo, yo, yo). Me and Tom just sat and threw down double vodkas and cokes while pouring over our lives and trying to work out what the hell we should do. Met Chad (Paulette's mate) and Quinette (Old work collegue). Quinette was living the dream on a distinctly average night, as he is only 17, getting totally pissed and trying to get off with anything that moves (excluding me, luckily). After a hard night Tom and myself drifted out of the club at closing and moved in for some food. We met up with the three musketeers in Italian Job. Me and Mex got our energy bolstering food and headed out of there away from the Chavs that were moving in on the place like Night of the Living Dead. We chatted drunkenly en route to the home where souls are consumed. Having arrived, I think, Mexy and Chow passed out in their rooms while me, Tom and Chris chatted away about Footy or something. We all finally got to sleep around 6am and got up at the grand time of 8am just two hours later. Chow was meant to be in Luton for a 9am start at his work but it was around 9am that he eventually surfaced with Mexy in a similar situation.
A night that I had planned to just sit around watching crap on TV had turned into a pretty damn cool night where once again we all managed to take around a week off our life expectancy. After attempting to recover at Tom's house we exited for a well earned bacon butty and brew! Awesome stuff for a morning after. After watching the cricket for the majority of the afternoon I managed to get myself home for the final of BB.
The final of BB.....what a way to put a smile on my face. Finally get rid of the worst series so far and simultaniously take Makosi down BIG time. I don't think I have ever smiled so much at big brother before in my life. Something like thirteen weeks of listening to that total f**king b***h go on and on, struggling to really grasp the English language, while contradicting every statement she ever said. If was wonderful to hear the boos and great to see Davina dig deep into her character and get most of the contestants even more pissed off than they were. Awesome television. The following sunday they had the reunion party which I didn't pay much attention to but noticed that she was on a table with just Vanessa and every other table was totally packed with people because no one wanted to sit with the whore. Also good to hear Anthony have a go at her and Dermot trying to stop him saying "Ohh come on now this is meant to be a party"!
The previous day was the first day of the new footballing season in the Premiership and in the Conference too. Not all the results went as I had desired but they were good enough. Me and Mexican went to the Morecambe Vs Halifax game and despite a relatively poor performance from Morecambe and the referee we still came away with a 1-0 win which is meant to be the sign of a good team, one that plays poorly but still wins. Morecambe for the league!!!
While I'm on the footballing front, it's very good to see that Hearts are leading the way North of the border with Rangers and Celtic both struggling to do anything at all. More importantly to the championship, Leeds United having been through the s**t for the past few seasons have finally managed to get back on their feet, stop selling players and start buying people, with around 5 top quzlity strikers at the club now Leeds shouldn't have any problems scoring goals this season and promotion is very much ON!
Following a very interesting weekend the next two days were relatively uneventful as I attempted to prepare for the time that was to come.
On the morning of Wednesday 17th August I headed off back in my car again for a 5 day trip of joy, to Neilly's house in Paisley then up to my Auntie's house in Helensburgh for her wedding. Took around three and a half hours of wonderful driving to arrive outside of the murphy residence. Was truely awesome to meet up with Neilly again after over two and a half months apart (Neilly expects me to go on about how great he is etc but I ain't gona do that to piss him off). We chatted for ages about the different thing we been up to, my stories of lying around on my a**e everyday with the odd bit of drinking inbetween and Neilly's stories of sex with every girl everywhere. Awesome times. Went for a drive around his home area looking at the local landmarks like the awesome park with the slightly crazy monorail that's also a train! Bizarre
We headed off into the wonder that is Paisley around 6, after seeing that there was no one in Neilly's drinking hole called Watsons we set about finding another drinking hole which resulted in entering Lush where we chilled out with a few wee beverages and waited for Neilly's mates Chico and Colin to join us for a night of entertainment. We went to The Crow Bar when Colin arrived and chatted away about how Neilly thinks hes really great when he just isn't. Lol. My memory of the night starts to fuzz from now on but I will do my best to recall it. The main place for the night was O'Neills, where we met up with Roddy and where "apparently" Neilly's team, The Zeppers, usually win the quiz by a country mile. Well this certainly wasn't the case this week. Although apparently some of the questions weren't as they usually are there were some ones that we got with an air of ease (Tinkie winkie with a triangle on his head and Arton Senna dying in 1994)! While we were in O'Neills me and Neilly must have drunk an unsurmountable volume of Guiness and Strongbow! Unsuprisingly enough we failed miserably to get anywhere remotely near the winners of the quiz but we got good and pissed so it was all good. Neilly then decided the show me the "extra special" club world of Paisley. My mind forgets where abouts we went but with some interesting bouncers on the doors and a fight starting off before we were even in the place it was quality! Went to get a drink at the bar to start with and while I was there two simultaneous fights started about 10 metres apart which the bouncers had no other option but to gather the masses together and scoop them out of the door! Truely awesome. You will really struggle find somewhere that can guarantee that situation every night without fail except Paisley. After our adventures and Chicos adventures with a lady we made a dash for home. When back at the Murphy home we watched about four seconds of friends before passing out and waking up with that annoying bright white menu screen on the monitor!
The following morning wasn't as fun as the previous night as the realisation that you have drunk your entire bodyweight in cider makes you feel somewhat gummy! I don't think I will be having another cider night for a while. On the thursday Neilly took me on a mini tour of some of Glasgow. We started by getting the train in from Paisley to Central and then we went on the classic Glasgow underground. I was expecting a train like in every other underground system in the world but when I arrived on the station the tunnels looked awfully small for a train to fit in. Then within minutes a weird train like device appeared before us. It looked like what can only be described as four or five "pods" joined together. You get inside the death train that is the height of a dwarf, take your seat, if there's one and then just hope to god nothing goes wrong so you don't die with a bunch of strangers trapped in a pod. Bizarre contraption.
Neilly took me to see one of the uni's unions. Sadly so, so much better than Stirling uni's union. Stirling uni's union is pretty but not by any means big. This union is what unions are meant to be like. Big, cheap and doesn't care about it's appearance. Not everything with beauty is the best! For food we went to Campus, an american themed student bar in the centre of Glasgow with cheap food and even cheaper drinks, my kind of place. We met up with some of the uni crew in Times Square, Louis, Kev, Jenna and Gibson. We all exchanged our summer stories and before long everything got to what it is going to be like when we are back at uni, as long as Louis manages to stay alive for that length of time.
We met up with Scott again for a minute when we were in another bar and also met up with Chico and Roddy before heading off to Garage. Pretty darn big, somewhere I'd love to go if I'd had enough drinks (which due to the previous night was never going to happen) and if my wisdom tooth hadn't been ripping my brain to insanity. We left Garage around 2ish, I think, with Chico, munched on some chips, saw the classic pieces of Glasgow scum filtering through the streets and enjoyed the night bus ride back to Paisley. Went back to Neillys and passed out. Contined in Part 2.............
Things Are On The Up 8-09-2005 3:05 PM
A reasonably good weekend, for a change, has just passed me by. My friend Tom who has been in India since February has just returned to this country and I went round to his house on Sunday along with a range of other people and met up with him. Had a BBQ etc and had a pretty darn cool time with him. Leeds Utd and Leeds Rhinos won on Sunday too along with England winning the test match by two runs, a pretty gr8 day for a change.
The football season has begun again and the premiership returns to our screens next weekend too! Awesome stuff.
Spoke to my mate Neilly and organised going up to see him in Paisley (Glasgow) for a week tomorrow. Going to meet up with Kev and Louis too so it should behold a good couple of days.
Big Brother is finally coming to end at last. Been a pretty crappy series and am glad to see the back of the likes of
Makosi.
Oh and my other mate Tom returned from his holiday to Corfu with Chris and Mexy and a large amount of sunburn. Lol. Can't be bothered writing anymore and probs won't write till after I come back from Scotland after my auntie's wedding!
Uni Time is Closing in 8-04-2005 9:28 AM
Since my last entry the odd thing of significance has happened but not exactly masses. Went out on Thurs 28th night for Rachi's bday. Went to top Wetherspoons, Hustle, Revo, Walkabout and Toast. Was a pretty cool night, got to chat away with Tom etc and get a couple of games of pool in. Tom told me that Toast was 80's night but actually it appeared to be hardcore Motown night! Not so good. I managed to injure my ankle pretty seriously by jumping down some stairs in Toast which meant i couldn't properly walk for a couple of days but it's just about getting back to normal now, although my opposite ankle is hurting more now!
Grrrr...
Tom and Mexy along with Tom's brother Chris have now run off and abandoned me and gone to Corfu for a good 9 days so I am all alone and Nadine has gone off to Mexico for a week or so. Rach is going away to Corfu too on this Monday coming and it looks more and more like I am the only one whos gone no where although I am going to Scotland for wedding and see Neilly, Kev and Louis in just less than 2 weeks! That's gonna be awesome.
Today I went to Asda and met up with Paul, Deary, Lindsay and Donald from uni! Took them into Lancaster where had something to eat and top Wetherspoons and also went to Blue Anchor coz it has a bar shaped like a boat! What else could you want? Seriously??? Good to see people from uni again as it has been a long, long time since I have. This showed to me that I really haven't got much for myself at home anymore and uni is really where I wanna spend my next 3 years. I need to be free with money again.
Watched Hide and Seek last night. It was pretty cool with the odd scary moment through out it. Hoping to maybe go out on Sat night with Philly and relatively quiet night as I really can't afford a loud one.
Football season really kicks off this weekend with the community shield game on Sunday with Leeds Vs Millwall preceding it! Should be pretty cool I hope, as long as Leeds win.
Still Alive 7-25-2005 5:58 AM
Well quite a lot has happened in the past two and a half weeks. The weather has been very mixed so I ain't exactly been lying around sunbathing. I have been round to my gran's house and helped her with some odd jobs (painting, sawing, laying down lino etc etc). At home I ain't done a thing, been sat on my ass the whole time. Watched the film "Madagascar" with Tom, not too bad, funny at times but nothing special (along the lines of Shrek and Toy Story). Have also watched "Dark Water" good at points but again nothing special, slow and very predictable sadly. Finally finished my friends-athon a while back, watching series 10 in two days, and I have watched the first nine episodes of the new Family Guy series too, totally hilarious. Been watching some of Big Brother but it just ain't as good this year, there's just no good characters, Derek is alright and it's always good to laugh at Eugene as he is just a loser. Lol.
Two weeks ago today (11th July) was Paulette's birthday. Went out with him and Carl before for a couple of drinks and then headed to Verdes for some food, none too shabby. After this we headed off round town going to an interesting selection of public houses meeting up with the Lemon on the way to one establishment. I met a lad in Chicago Rock who is one of Paulette's friends so I was rambling on to him for a while about school days and a range of random stuff. After a lot of drunk speech I found out that he is the son of Mrs Hartley. Mrs Hartley was my old Food Technology teacher who hated me for no reason so I hated her. She hated me so much she melted a range of my work on to a cooker and then tried to blame other people when she was the only one working on that cooker. As I hated this teacher so, so much I couldn't pass up the moment so I told him "Your mother is a f*****g b***h" and to my suprise he agreed with me! Genius. We ended the night in Toast for the Indie/Rock night. I haven't been into Toast in about two years infact I think I can remember the last time and that was why I hadn't been in there for so long, must have stained my memory. To be fair the music didn't seem to be exactly "Indie or Rock". Disappointment. But luckily as always me and Tom managed to make all things better by getting totally hammered. We lost each other for about half an hour or so before eventually being reunited. At 2:15am we were forced out of the premises by the bouncers and couldn't find the rest of the party we were with when we had entered. So failing all else me and Tom retreated back to the house of Tom and Mexy. We chatted away till about 4:30 in the morning about absolutely everything from women to how Tom and Mexy had managed to steal a giant traffic sign on a 10 foot metal pole. At this time in the morning I decided to make my move for my own home. I didn't want to have to pay for a taxi so I walked. One hour of drunken stumbling later, while watching the sun rise, I arrived! Totally knackered I just collapsed in my bed. Two hours later I was awoken by my alarm informing me that I must get up to go and meet my old friend Becki!
Slowly and slightly unsurely I got out of bed. Becki, who I used to go to school with, needed some help with her dissertation for university and as I am the only person at home who doesn't have a job I was the chosen one! We took a range of measurements along the beach with me complaining every single second of the day about feeling like s**t, needing sleep and getting sun stroke. We finished around 2pm and I escaped to the freedom of dying at home.
I had to help Becki again on the Thursday morning which, although this time not still drunk, I still complained the whole time (lol) so near the end Becki resorted to just talking to her boyfriend on the phone.
Two Sunday's ago (17th July) Mexy took me and Tom out for a drive around the countryside with us eventually stopping off at Kirkby Lonsdale. Although cloudy in Morecambe there wasn't a cloud in the sky where we were :D! We got some food and wandered along to Devil's bridge where people climb up on the bridge wall and jump off into the river below. This isn't recommended as quite a large number of people have jumped in, not quite timed it right and ended up hitting rocks! One guy we saw jumped in, seemed fine but then having got to the side had some problems getting out and seemed to be really struggling at times. He eventually clawed himself up onto the rocks at the side and just lay there...troubles. We went for a walk along the river and through the village getting ourselves an ice cream en route. On the way back to the car we went back over the bridge noting that the previously mentioned individual was still on the same area of rocks clearly struggling to breath and for that matter move. So being good people we said "Why is no one helping that guy he looks in some trouble" and walked back to the car and drove away. On the night we went to the quiz at the Dog and Partridge. The questions were mainly surrounding the era before we were born so failed miserably.
On the following Wednesday me, Tom and Mexy met up again to take on the proper quiz in the Dog and Partridge. Next to us were Rachel and her dad (Derek). I suggested that we form the ultimate team to win the gallon of ale but it was heavily poo-pooed. After some pre-quiz digs at each other the quiz got underway. We did reasonably well but there were the odd question we could and should have got right but sadly it wasn't to be. We scored a credible 19 and Rachel and Derek came in with the same score, 19. Afterwards we realised that if we had got together we would have won by a good few points! One day we will win the quiz, mark my words.
Now, this weekend just gone was the garden party for Nadine's 19th birthday. Me and Tom have been to this annual event two times previous and as always we were looking forward to it. We arrived around 4pm with the majority of people arriving at a more sensible time of 8-9pm. As most of the people Nadine had invited were people we didn't know at all we joined up with Nadine's and Phil's parents at the other end of the garden. We chatted away about loads of things till 3am and had Champagne at 1am with Phil's Dad (Dave) toasting to the memory of Scotty from Star Trek, saying "Beam me up Scotty". After this me and Tom working our way back to the other end of the garden to listen to some tunes and watch an episode of Family Guy till around 4:30am! Total classic. The morning after wasn't a classic though. Felt like total and utter s**t.
Boredom 7-07-2005 6:37 PM
Well...boredom has really hit home. I could read up on my notes for next years computer science course, I could read my Maths book i wanted to read a year ago, I could do a lot of things but right now I feel like I am floating out of my body. I am not sure what to make of life right now and in the next few days I will hopefully be trying to iron a few things out in my life and make the summer seem a bit more fun. I am going to Tom's house tomorrow to watch Madagascar and Sin City. I am really looking forward to Nade's Garden party and to Paul Birthday night out on Monday. They should be a couple of really good nights. For the past two days I have been round helping my gran to do a range of jobs (including fully cleaning out her car, painting her gate and painting a range of other stuff too). I have spent some of tonight watching pointless TV shows and I did some more work on my web site which was lets be fair pretty boring. The web site is almost complete just some reviews missing off it which I will do at some point during the next few weeks. The site address is www.geocities.com/rubymonroe. Enjoy. I went out last night to the DnP and did the quiz. Had a really cool laugh especially when certain people wouldn't take my answers and insisted on listening to what other people were writing down (e.g. Swansea, Count Duckula etc). Lol.
I spent a lot of today watching the events unfold in London with the bombs everywhere. It was so, so sad to peoples lives being ripped apart. It made me realise how much some people really mean to me and if they had been in London at the same time as these bombs how I would be feeling.
Slow, Easy Living 7-04-2005 7:11 AM
It's been a good while since I last wrote anything so I am going to try to say everything I have done in the past three weeks in here, which isn't much. This weekend just ended my Auntie and Uncle (who are getting married 20th August) were visiting. Spent Saturday and a little bit of Sunday with them and on the Saturday I got to drive their Landrover on Middleton beach for a good half hour. Awesome. I have to drive the Landrover to the wedding in August so was just learning where everything was. I have a few things coming up in the next few weeks, Paul's 18th birthday, Nadine's 19th birthday party, the wedding and hopefully going to Blackpool Pleasure Beach in early August! As money is a shortage still due to the lack of a job I haven't been able to go out much at all which is totally killing me. I can't wait to get back to university when I will have my loan and I can drink good and proper again. Really looking forward to going back to university again but it's just too far away :( In the past three weeks I have spent a little bit of time with Tom and went for a meal at the Grove for West's birthday which was cool with Enrique being piped into the restaurant for us as Mexy used to work for the owners. Still no sign of Mexy's big money making scheme but I am keeping my eyes peeled as he says he may need me to earn some money by folding paper and putting inside other paper, no the most fun but I need the cash. I have managed to finish the painting of walls at home and I painted the two metal gates in our driveway. I also spent a good bit of time stripping the walls in the Bathroom which took a long, long time as they seemed to be glued down with every single piece of glue available in the world. Knackering. While doing that I managed to listen to the audio book of Harry Potter 5 that my bro had downloaded for me. Not too much special but gave me something to listen to. Am going to read the sixth book after my bro has delivered it.
Wimbledon is now over too and as expected Federer won again because he was clearly better than anyone else. Andy Murray showed potential but it turns out he's just a girl with no stamina. Tim failed again, not suprising to anyone I don't think. Leeds have been frantically signing new players (people who failed to do well in the premiership) for the new season which looks ok at the moment. Morecambe have done well holding on to their best players and they have some good friendlies coming up soon which I will hopefully be attending (the likes of Wigan, Blackburn, Blackpool and Gretna). The new season starts on 13th August for Morecambe so it looks like as long as I don't get a job, which I really don't see happening, I will be going to see a good few league games too!
I have been doing a little bit of work for my bro on his website earning a small amount and I am going round to my gran's sometime this week to paint somethings and knock down walls. Looks fun.
I went into my old work last Wednesday to see everyone again and it was really cool. Had a good chat with most people about the past six months. Not much has changed there but according to them they all said I had put weight on! What, what, what! I didn't realise I had. Got to play a classic game of Yahtzee with Brett which unsuprisingly enough I lost, just as it used to be, the luck of the dice haven't changed in half a year. When I was stood at Booths I realised that I was so glad that I was sat on my a**e at home instead of working away there. Wonderful.
So far during the holidays I have been watching friends from the first episode and am currently on the last episode of series 7! Still so, so funny. I have watched Rat Race and Mystic River too, both quite good. Started to play on my gamecube again as my bro kindly gave it back to me, starting to really kill off Tony Hawks 4 and have started again to complete Waverace. I still have a lot more things I want to do with my holidays but I am sure that I will end up having not done them. I have decided that when I finish with university I really want to get out this country and go and live in Singapore and at the moment Tom is well on board with me. Singapore is clean, hi-tech and is far away from all the problems of the UK (chavs, gypos, penny stealing f**ks etc). It's a place I want to be for a few years at least. At the moment life is chugging along with no real purpose and I can't wait to return to university when I will be away from home again and feel free. Tom will hopefully be coming up in the second week on me going back to university for a few days as Lancaster university doesn't start until early October. Well that's just about most things I can think of if I think of anything else I will slide it into the next entry!
Sleepy Week 6-13-2005 11:10 AM
Ain't started the job hunting yet because I am a failure. I ain't used to having to find a job as I have always found myself in a job without trying! Ah well. Going to have to do something for myself real soon as at the moment I am simply sitting around on my ass everyday. For all of last week I have been going to bed at about 5am and been getting up around 2 or 3pm! Life is very easy but I am starting to get aggrovated by myself not having a job as I really need the money. I am concidering getting a job when I go back to uni on sundays as I never really have anything to do except sit around so could be worth it in the long run. Will have to wait and see. The only things I have done this week is painted the gate and all the walls around my house following the fence and shed painting of the previous week. Still got some other things to do in the house like stripping the wallpaper in the bathroom and then painting the walls in there. For the past few weeks i have been watching Friends from the first episode and at the moment am part way through series 4 and going strong. I have also been making a simple web site to inform people of my little life, the people in it and my interests. Nothing special but it is filling in my time.
Oh I passed all my exams too: Maths - 2B, Computer Science - 1C, Stats - 1C. Pretty damn good results concidering the low amount of effort I needed to put in to them :D
Lazy Dayz 6-04-2005 4:36 PM
I achieved nothing today. Absolutely nothing.
Tonight I went out with Phil and Nadine. Had a good laugh. I was planning originally to go out for the whole night and meet up with Tom and he was going to stay at my house but for some reason unknown to me at the moment me he didn't meet up with us at all (he's going to stay next Saturday night now). So eventually after going to about 5 pubs or something (including Revolution :D) we decided to head back with a couple of free double cheeseburgers at around 11ish. Saturday nights just aren't any good unless there's a big enough group of people out with me. Felt kind of weird tonight and I realise that I don't always fit in at home anymore as I have been so far away for so long! Phil is going away on Tuesday for a week and so are Nadine's parents and her friend Jenny so she's coming out with me for a good proper night out to chat about everything, possibly on Thursday night. We'll wait and see. Tomorrow I am going to put up the last of the bookcases that I ain't done yet at home and going to meet up with Oli for a couple of pints in the D & P.
Tonight I have realised that I need a job to get me out of the house and into a different environment as I am starting to seriously miss uni, the area, my uni mates and I desperately need the cash so I can really enjoy being back to uni to the fullest extent! 98 days till I go back to uni. It's going to rock big time, but I also realise that by the time the 14 weeks left have expired I will be so used to going out round Lancaster and getting to see Tom, Mexy, Phil, Nadine etc that I will miss the place as soon as I have left.
Bumming About 6-03-2005 4:29 PM
It's been just over a week since I last wrote anything in this journal so am already starting to get behind and I have only been home for a week! I have managed some how to bum around a sufficient amount of time this week, which is cool. I been taking the old doggy out for walks and been messing about with the sims 2.
The job hunt has yet to get started at all but I am starting it for good on Monday, or Tuesday... or maybe later next week. Lol.
The journey back to uni on Friday last week was not too bad, roads weren't busy at all, everything went suspiciously fine.
Didn't go out on Saturday night as I couldn't be bothered facing anything that I can't be bothered with so I took the decision to avoid town. Lazied about on Sunday and Monday, can't really remember what I actually did at all....oh well.
Went to the D and P on Tuesday with a couple of old mates for the England game. Had a few wee drams and a good laugh to go with it. Finally felt good to be home. Spent most of Tuesday with Tom, we went to Morecambe for some ice creams and wandered along the prom through the gypo fair. Which was playing tunes with "Explicit Lyrics" not blanked out or anything at full blast with little kids running round anywhere. Ha, pure genius. Tom has started to watch LOST now and is getting good and addicted. We are going out tomorrow night for a good Saturday night out and he's going to stay at my house just like old times and I know that he will be watching LOST on my laptop as much as he can possibly squeeze in.
Last night I went out at about 6pm with Tom, Mexy and Oli. Went to top wetherspoons, had a couble vodka red bull and played on the ITBox. Oli has some how or other managed to get us addicted to Word Up. I managed to get the word "Quoting" which is now the top score for a single word at about 147, I think. Mexy says he's going to keep going back to spoons just to try to knock me off the top of the hi-score. Good luck man. After that we floated down to Littentree and had a few pints in there while playing...... yes......Word Up!!! Managed to get the longest word there so am on the top of the scores there with "Canning". Classy. Went to revo after that and enjoyed the delights that is a good quality vodka bar. Had a good bit of southern comfort and cranberry juice and after a long wait, while at uni, got another pear drop and cranberry juice. God I miss that drink. Played Mexy at pool and even though he was all over me some how or other I managed to win. Don't remember potting the black ball at all but it must have happened :S After that we drifted off down to Sugahouse, not too drunk at all at this point. But me and Tom seemed to be on a mission in Sugahouse. We were to the bar and back so many times it made some people dizzy. I ain't too sure just how much vodka we managed to consume during the 2 and a half hours we were there but I am still in pain now so it must have been a good barrel full or something close. Mexy (who has some plan up his sleeve that will make him a millionaire within about a year or so, or so he claims. I actually believe it will as Mexy always manages to get money from some loop hole or something and I am going to be right there to sponge any of the money he doesn't want, lol) went off with other people then for parts of the night. Drinking a good large amount of Strongbow and at one point when he was with us he picked up someone elses old gammy pint and drank some of it before he realised what he did. I could have stopped him I think but it seemed so so much more funny to watch him go into a state of shock. HAHAHA. Still makes me laugh now!!! We managed to get back to Tom's house with a pizza and got to bed about 3am. But I didn't feel at all tired to then proceeded to play a range of songs and chat to Tom and all of a sudden we remembered "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles"!!! SHREDDER!!! You mutant morons. Always makes me smile. So we then had to download a couple of episodes and watch them. Managed to get to sleep just past 5am! Mexy woke us up at 10 am wanting to go to Asda for some breakfast. So, we did. We proceeded back to my house for a bit to watch some LOST, Simpsons and South Park. After Mexy and Tom retreated to the hovel of a home in Lancaster me and bro made a bookcase and I made another tonight, just for something to do. And that leaves me where I am now.
Home Sweet Home 5-26-2005 5:12 PM
Finally got home today. Had a few good last days and nights at uni. Went out on Wednesday night for the final ever Gannochy night to watch the Liverpool game. Had a few drinks before going there, just hoping that Liverpool would be able to bring home the trophy against all the odds. 3-0 down at half time, it's all over. The bar is getting very dry now and bacardi and orange fanta doesn't seem to sound appealing but I forced it down. No-one gives them a chance, not a shred of a chance. Then a moment, Steven Gerrard heads one in. All of the sudden the Gannochy's ears prick up, now there was a chance. Immediatly Vladimir Smicer strikes from range, with Dida as poor as when Lee Bowyer scored against him at Elland Road, the ball flies past him. 3-2! Game on! Moments later, while still recovering, it's a penalty. Xavi Alonso's strike is saved but the rebound put in. Unbelieable. Still can't believe it at all. Stunned. So as the game continues we all think it's going to penalties and have all settled for that then Shevchenko misses from about a yard out. Dudek just threw a hand at it and it goes over. How that happened no one can explain. Penalties arrives and Liverpool keep their heads while Milan's big name stars fail. 3-2 on penalties to the English club and that's that. Scenes of joy that can't be described. At the end we managed to get some Gannochy momentos. Wonderful.
So in a very joyeous mood it's down to med and beat again. Seemed so so much better with the great feeling inside. Kareoke didn't seem so bad at all, yet it really was worse than ever. Going into beat I met the person who lives above me in Murray Hall whos from the Lancaster area. Turns out he's from Overton, went to primary school with Tom and secondary school at Ripley. We discussed so, so much and seem to know the same people. So all along there has been someone who knows everyone I know living just above me. Unbelievable day,
truely.
Tomorrow I must drive up on my own to Stirling to collect everything else from my room as mum can't get time off work. I have been out tonight and met up with Phil, Tom, Alvin and a range of other folks. Was an alright night overall. Remembered the one reason that made me leave home for a place as far away as Stirling (....kids). Going to have to get a job this summer now :( Found out Tom had his driving license taken away from him because of his random seizures. Ohhh Tom, Tom, Tom.
Well this is the moment, after I finish this I am going to watch the finale of Lost. Going to be amazing!!!
Time to move on up
Exam's Over 5-23-2005 7:31 PM
It's all over now. Exam's finished at last. Computer Science was alright, nothing special just glad to get it out of the way. Went out tonight at about half 8 well before everyone else as they were all meant to be going out for Mhairi's birthday but didn't get out till about 10ish, as usual. Enigma was quite good but a bit too full but still had a real cool time. As am struggling to put together a proper sentence I have decided to finish this entry pretty quickly so that's it really.
Going Home 5-21-2005 8:04 PM
This is most likely going to be my last entry before I go home as mum is coming up tomorrow and is going to take everything from my room home with her. Hopefully she will bring two Lost episodes up with her but will have to see. The Finale of Lost is this Wednesday in America I believe so when I get the train home on Thursday I will get to watch it all unfold. Awesome.
Today was amazing as Arsenal beat Man Utd in the FA Cup Final. Gannochy moments that I could go on for hours about but am too knackered to do that. These are my last few days in Murray Hall, I have my Computer Science exam on Monday and it's Mhairi's birthday so I have to go out for that. Ali is back on Monday too for a few days before we all leave for a well earned (or not really earned) 14 week break. This summer better be awesome or I will cry. Lol.
I emptied my room tonight in about 4 hours, feels so so weird now. There's nothing left it's going to be so, so dull for the final few days. I haven't enjoyed Murray Hall but despite everything this room, even though it's terrible, has been my home for a year and it will mean a lot to say goodbye to it all. Next year awaits, hopefully a better place. The people I am going to be living with are amazing so that shouldn't be a problem. Will have to wait and see. I am very knackered now as have been talking to a drunken Kev and an even more drunken Donald for the past 3 hours. It's 4am and the sun is starting to rise, which is scary. My next entry is most likely to be on Friday which is a good 4/5 days away. I will be reporting on the quality of the Finale of Lost too, as long as all goes to plan. Then I may have to get off my ass and look for a job.... I know a job!!! Can I really do that all over again??? We'll just have to wait and see. This summer is going to be very, very interesting.
Beat, The Place To be! 5-18-2005 7:43 PM
Am home from Beat, it's almost half 3 in the morning, am starving, drunk and listening to "Colours of The Wind" from Pocahontas. What a life I am leading. Had a really cool time tonight at the karaoke in Med, laughing at Tricky and Dave singing away, dancing with Louis to a range of attempted songs including "Fairytale of New York". Lol. Got my Computer Science results today for my 2nd coursework and managed to get a 1B so pretty chuffed with myself at the mo. Just starting to get the feeling now where I start to think about the future, leaving uni this year has always been one of my most wanted things. To get home and away from this prison thing sounds just awesome, but as time comes ever more and more closer I suddenly remember some of the good times, when everything was new and fresh and wish I could be back at the start but we must move on. I want to be home now.

1 Left... Joy 5-17-2005 8:11 AM
Phew... Maths exam is over and I am drinking a triple vodka and coke :D Didn't really revise at all properly for it but I never ever seem to really for anything since before GCSE anymore. I think I passed but ain't 100% sure. Nothing special anyway. Going out tonight to celebrate only having one exam left. My brain has been totally shredded to pieces by the exam and all I want to do now is just fade away into the darkness of life. But I still got another 3 years of this terror left :'( Nooooooooo!!! Yesterday was one of the crumbiest days ever, spent most of it sat in studio drinking a couple of pints while revising away, before that was meant to be playing football but because my uni is really useless, they booked sports union members time out to a private party which pissed all of us off good and proper.
The greatest ever TV show finishes this Wednesday night in America, LOST! The three part finale will be some of the best TV this year by a long way. Lost is showing this summer in the UK on Channel 4 and I recommend everyone to watch it, after about 4 episodes you will be hooked, it's fantasic. When my Mum comes up on Sunday to take my stuff home, hopefully she will bring up the last parts of Lost!!! This is the only thing I am looking forward to except going home.
Ooooh forgot to say that this morning I was woken by not only the cleaner but the lawn mower guy and some people with a drill ripping up pieces of the concrete. They certainly know how to piss me off here. Lol.
Vodka and coke finished.
Sunny Soccer Survival Sunday 5-15-2005 4:27 PM
The premiership is over and it is West Brom who avoid the drop. At Christmas they were bottom and I said they could avoid relegation and last weekend I said they would avoid relegation and against all odds they have. I spent a good 3/4 hours in The Gannochy today and it was another "Gannochy Moment". Sad the place is going as the atmosphere can be so, so good. Sat outside for a little bit too today but apart from that all I done is about half an hour of revision and had a real cool bath! Maths exam is on Tuesday so tomorrow is a revision day, sadly, but hopefully the weather will be good again so can lie outside and revise. Bottle collection is going to go tomorrow as some of the bottles have a large amount of mould in :S
Nothing else to say..... Goodbye.
Exams, Exams, Exams!!! (Well Only 3 Really) 5-12-2005 5:26 PM
Well here we are again. Same place half a year later and it's exam time. Later today I have my Stats exam. This is the one that I am gonna hate the most. Don't have a clue what it's about and only just started revising for it today so I decided to just concentrate on knowing how to answer 4 of the 6 questions as that's all you have to do. Each year the stats exam is almost exactly the same with different numbers etc. Seems to be an alright idea. Will see what I think after the exam! Nice sunny day to day, revising on the grass outside the building for a while and then coming in and revising some more while drinking a good amount of WKD and Red Square so now I have forgotten everything I learned, genius. Been watching more friends, just loving the first series more than ever now. Jokes, jokes, jokes all the way. Not much else to say really except the best news of the day......
Malcolm Glazer taking over Man Utd!!!
Possibly some of best football news for a long, long time. As long as he continues to buy more and more shares before anyone else does he will own such a large stake in the club that he can transfer all his masses of debt onto the clubs books and there's nothing they can do about it :D My true hope is that over time Man Utd fans will start and continue to boycott their club and we can all watch the profits drop, players being sold, the club sliding down the league into relegation and eventually liquidation. While all this is going on the quiet force that is Leeds Utd will climb slowly up the league until in the very near future winning the league and being promoted, climb the premiership, crush all in their paths, win the league, win the champions league and never ever be beaten again. This seems a far off dream, I know, but at least the first piece has been put into place and soon enough the jigsaw will start to be filled in.
If only...
............................ 5-11-2005 5:39 PM
Boring, boring day. It really was! I went to Tesco, wow. A thrill. Ain't really started revising yet but I am going to before I go to bed which ain't far away as am rapidly losing control of my eye lids. Sat around eating and drinking and watching a bit of friends,
"Bob Buttons?"
"Aha Bob Buttons, here Bob Buttons."
Genius first series friends with Mr Heckles!
That's as interesting as it gets.
I want out of this prison cell, 16 days till probation.
Forgot to say I watched Lost in Translation and got lost myself, don't have a clue what that film was about :S
Just Another Day At Uni 5-10-2005 5:58 PM
Woken early this morning by the cleaner who I hear every morning at 9am down the corridor. Following this I usually go into a state of half awake, half asleep until she comes into my room to empty my bin and talk to me for a minute after which I get up from my slumber and start a day of bumming about. Sadly Tuesday is hoovering day, so as expected out comes the crappy orange 60's hoover which I can't imagine picks up any dirt but it does make an arse of a noise. This morning I was excessively tired and didn't want to wake up but the cleaner managed to wake me up good and proper. I guess it could have been worse as in first semester she came into my room and poured a glass of water over me which I went back to sleep in and almost drowned in. Lol. I went over to the atrium got myself a bacon butty and a paper to soothe my anger and then had to go and print off all my notes etc so revision could start. Last night me, Neilly, Kev, Louis and Ali went up to see our new flat for next year. They all don't look too bad but we have managed to some how or other end up with the crappest one out of the bunch. It's on the ground floor with a door intstead of a bay window, next to the porters office, without internet access and with a view of a sign that says "danger of death". It really isn't the best. Today me and Neilly went back up for a better view and in daylight it doesn't look good either. We tried to measure the place too and it seems that the rooms are smaller than what we have now and concidering that we are living in a shoe box already I ain't thrilled. I guess that the company in my flat will be 3000% better than what I have now and we are determined to try to change our flat totally and make something good out of a bad situation, but it is sole destroying. Life continues. Went to the Gannochy for tea and back again to watch the best team in England (Chelsea) destroy the scummers 3-1. So, so good to watch and gives you a warm glow inside that for a very rare occasion isn't the alcohol burning through my liver. The only other times you get a glow inside is when something you support is successful or when you finally gaze upon the one person that you want to spend all of your life with. Though the sun was out for a good part of the day the day wasn't all good sadly. Revision, which I promised to do is still not happening and my exam is about two and a half days away (starting to panic). And Neilly and Claire split up. This is one of the saddest things because I really can't handle and hate seeing my best friends reduced to the lowest that they have ever felt. I will get to spend more time with Neilly, yes, but I wish with all my heart that Neilly didn't have to go through all this as I would rather he was as happy as he used to be than spend any amount of time with me. I wanted to cry for him today, he's totally cut up about it all. Life goes on. For some reason I have a fettish about this song: Aaron Neville/Linda Ronstadt - I Don't Know Much.
Revision definately starts tomorrow. Life will go on and on...
Boring Days... 5-08-2005 7:54 PM
Following the events of rock night I ain't really done much. Just bummed about all weekend watching and listening to the footy as the seasons come to a close. Been playing games over the network with people on my floor which has been a laugh but can be real boring. Leeds played their last game today, only managed a 0-0 draw but don't matter, looking forward to next season now. Sadly it was the last ever game for Lucas Radebe one of the greatest footballers ever :( Went to pub quiz in Westerton Arms in Bridge of Allan tonight for second week. Managed to do alright and between us won a bottle of vodka! People have started to come back to uni now after a week away. Wish I had gone home for a week really could have done with it, just looking forward the end of May when my exams are out of the way and I can finally sit on my arse at home rather than at uni. Lol. Although this uni does seem to be a lot more sunny than Morecambe, but that ain't really difficult. Going to watch Lost in Translation now. Revision finally starts tomorrow... hopefully.
Final Rock Night 5-07-2005 12:57 AM
Well am up real early as just can't sleep at all as still half cut :( Broken neck chain and gummy plate with pizza crumbs on it still by the bed (not sure how I managed to cook that last night without burning the place down). Last night was truely awesome. The final ever rock night in the Gannochy started average and as is normally the case got better after continuous drinking and towards the end unreal. For the whole last hour everyone was on the dancefloor jumping up and down and getting totally over-excited (line from father ted). There were ppl getting lifted up and carried across the dancefloor, ppl hanging onto the rafters, ppl scaling across the rafters and so so many mosh pits. Got thrown in the mosh pits a good few times especially after throwing randoms in. Lol. The music was no bad either at times, a rarity with rock night. The DJ spoke to all of us at the end and we all hip-hip-horayed him. Genius. Eventually got forced out of the Gannochy by stewards, despite all our efforts. Outside there was a real carnival feel to everything, ppl shouting and cheering, others passing out and so on. Chatted to some girl from the student union council who was in favour of saving the Gannochy and found out what happened at the latest council meeting (at the last council meeting one of the council ppl whos an arse tried to pass a motion fort something or other and a number of ppl didn't want it so tried to leave the room and he blocked them and things went from there). She tried to get me to join the council next year as they need more ppl who are on the side of saving the Gannochy, even though next year the Gannochy will be no longer, don't think I will do that next year as really can't be arsed to go to the meetings etc. Did nothing all day yesterday before going to the Gannochy, except have a cool bath :P
Just looked out of the window and it's sun, sun, sun so gona have to go outside sometime today before the footy starts! Just looked out now and it's sun, cloud, sun so may not be going outside much.
Lol.
Day 2.......... 5-05-2005 4:51 PM
So far so good, am keeping this thing going. Today I again bummed around (I bum around almost everyday!). Got woken up by the bloody cleaner emptying my bin and chatting to me and then letting Dave (Knifeboy - very dodgy fellow) into my room. After that I had to get up as couldn't get back to sleep :( Went to play snooker with ali, tricky, deary, paul and donny. I aint the best player ever but managed to scrape two wins together, which in my world is getting lucky wen the other player keeps fouling. Lol. Came back to uni and had a few wee drams (small beverages) while playing football manager over the network with paul, tricky and deary. Not the most thrilling thing ever I no so I got myself sacked and have been unemployed ever since. Joy. Spent a while chatting to Neilly too tonight, we used to chat loads last semester but don't get many chances nemore as Neilly is normally with his gfriend (Claire), which woz real cool. Thinking bout accomodation next year as am very concerned that it doesn't have internet access, which means I may well just cease to exist.
Oooh went to McDs today :P hmm... two big macs. Really can't beat this kind of thing.
Trying to think of something interestin to rite but my life really aint that fun at the mo....my bottle collection in my room has now fully maxed out and its getting towards the point where I am gona have to get rid of some. I may put a photo of the collection up sometime soonish. Neilly bought Robert Plant (his idol)'s new album today, he's lovin it and is most likely in his room now creaming himself.
Tomorrow night is the final ever rock night in the Gannochy. Due to our student union being pants and corrupt the Gannochy sports bar is being closed down and a new sports bar put in the Long Bar which we don't want but were helpless to prevent. Rock night has become the best night in the Gannochy by a long, long way but sadly all good things must come to an end and tomorrow night will be an emotional time for everyone (we have become attached to the Gannochy btw). Life goes on.
Still not started revising yet :S
1st Entry 5-04-2005 1:01 PM
Hmmmm... a journal, this could be fun to do. Have always wanted to do something like this but I know that after a while I will give up but hey for now lets see how this goes. I am about a week away from my exams so not long till revision starts :P Have spent today bumming about playing footy and sitting out in the sunshine with a few drinks, ahh so so nice! Going to med and beat in a few mins, oh the joy (we always go to med and beat on a wed, slag it off and go back, no one knows why we do).
