Frontierland (1909 - 2000)

Frontierland used to be a wild west themed park on the sea front of the gorgeous Morecambe promenade. Sadly, in 2000, Frontierland was closed as it was no longer financially viable. This left a hole in many people's hearts. For all those who visited Frontierland, the news that it was closing and being demolished after 91 years of faithful service was a sad time. Frontierland will always be fondly remembered by old and young.

The main entrance sign to Frontierland. The old site where Frontierland used to proudly stand, now in ruins.

Part of the main rollercoaster, the Texas Tornado. The Texas Tornado was a quirky ride and was made even better when the owners decided to increase the "danger" factor by turning the train around so you could do the whole rollercoaster backwards. Wonderful to behold. A section of the Texas Tornado during the demolishion.

The Runaway Mine Train was as you can see by the picture a ride that had a number of sharp turns. Every time you went on this ride you felt like your life was in danger as the mine carriages were designed to tilt for every corner and with the wheels situated at the rear, the carriage appeared to overhang every corner. You don't get rides like this anymore. The Haunted Silver Mine was a quaint, little ride with some nice displays inside and it fitted in very well with the rest of the park. Sadly I never got many chances to go on this ride when I was younger but the few times I did live on in the memories.
