Alton Towers

Here is a description of just some of the rides that Alton Towers has/had to offer. These are the main rides that I thought were the best ones when I visited recently.

Nemesis is probably the main attraction at Alton Towers. With your feet dangling below you, you are at the mercy of the rollercoaster. Awesome feeling when you get off this rollercoaster, your legs have lost so much feeling it's unreal. If you go to Alton Towers this is the must go on rollercoaster. Get a queue jump pass and get on this ride, if you don't you will regret it for the rest of your life.

Oblivion. Short, sweet and shit scary. I went on this when the queue was very small, about a 15 minute wait. If you queue for a while you may regret it as the ride is only about 30 seconds long. You are cranked up a steep slope and move along admiring the view until you arrive at the drop where you are held above what appears to be a never ending abyss before being released. Amazing rush of adrenalin that isn't felt on many other rides in the world.

One of the newest rides at Alton Towers, AIR. Air is the first of it's type of rollercoaster. You sit down, strapped in your seat and then your seat gets turned horizontal so you are facing the ground. This ride is a wonder to go on but make sure you get a queue jump pass or you will be waiting all day to get on it. Air gives you the feeling that you are flying along and at one point the ride turns you onto your back for a banked corner and gives you an experience that no other ride can give.

One of the older rides in Alton Towers, Corkscrew. This rollercoaster is your average rollercoaster, banked corners, reasonable speed with a good solid corkscrew part way through. While you are waiting take note of how much the corkscrew moves when the train goes through it, worrying, but this all adds to the enjoyment. Worth going on as long as the queue is at a reasonable length. Black Hole is the classic rollercoaster in the dark that the majority of good theme parks always seem to have. I have been informed that this ride is no longer in operation which is a disappointment. This ride was always good one to go on before or after your Oblivion experience. Can't remember much about this ride as it was in the dark.
