Padmé Naberrie Amidala was educated in politics as a child, and at the age of fourteen she was elected Queen of Naboo.  Thankfully, Amidala was already a brave and determined leader; Sidious underestimated her when he called her ‘naďve’.  Amidala refused to sign a treaty that would legitimize an illegal occupation, but because of this action, she was sentenced to a prison camp.  Fate also had great things in store for our favorite Queen, for she was rescued by Jedi Qui-Gonn Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi, and after meeting them, she met the man...excuse me...boy that would change the rest of her life: Anakin.  At that point, Anakin was but a dear friend, but ten years later, after Amidala had stepped down from being queen and was serving as Senator of Naboo, and once Anakin had grown into a handsome young man, he became much more.  In fact, she even began to fall in love with him.  Who would have guessed it? (Well...I did... :D )

During their refuge at the Naboo Lake Retreat, Anakin and Padmé bonded, rekindling an affectionate friendship that had been interrupted ten years ago, where they fell into an even deeper love; a forbidden love.  The jedi code forbade Anakin to enter into a romantic relationship, and Padmé needed to focus on her career. Despite their strong feelings, it was Padmé who remained the realist, rebuffing Anakin's overtures while attempting to still her own heart.

After going to Geonosis to rescue Obi-Wan, Anakin and Padme were captured by Dooku and sentenced to death.  On their way to the execution arena, Padmé lowered her emotional guard and professed her love to Anakin.  When the two survived the entire ordeal, they decided that they could deny their love no longer, and Anakin and Padmé Amidala returned to the Naboo Lake Retreat.  Beside the lake and facing the mountains in the retreat’s solitude, the two were wed.  This tranquil expression of love preceded some of the darkest moments to be faced by Amidala and by the rest of the galaxy in years to come.
