If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
Many people believe that because they are a sinner they can't get saved and God does not want them. These verses tell us that we all are sinners. Also, Roman 3:23 (click here) tells us we are sinners. God promised us that if we confessed our sins he will forgive us of all unrighteousness. No matter what we do Christ will accept you into his kingdom if we just accept His gift. We are sinners saved by grace, Ephesians 2:8-9 (click here) tells us this. So if you are waiting to clean up before you get right with God, I am sorry to tell you that you will not get cleaned up. It takes the power of the blood of Jesus to do that. It takes you accepting His gift.
