Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniqutiy, but rejoiceth in truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Love is not easily provoked. Provoked, from the American Heritage Dictionary, means to incite to anger or resentment. Sometimes it is easy for people to provoke us to anger. Sometimes we also hold resentment toward others. Having anger and resentment in our hearts will cause us to fall into temptation. Having anything in our hearts will eventually come out. Our heart is like our hard drive. Whatever program that is in a hard drive of a computer that is how the computer will behave. Whatever we put in our hearts that is how we will eventually behave. Psalms 119:11 says "Thy Word have I hidden in my heart that I might not sin against Thee." So how do we keep from being easily provoked. We must learn to love others and even our eniemies. Matthew 5:44 "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despilefully use you, and persecute you." So the people who brings anger and resentment in our hearts we must learn to pray for them. In praying for them we show love and replace the anger and resentment into love. Love will get rid of the anger and resentment.
