| July 5, 2006- I got back from JBA a few days ago. In the JBA Talent Showcase, a few friends and I solved a cube each. The first person took 57 seconds, a personal record. The second took 1:07 because he was nervous (I could see him shaking, and I could see him doing the wrong PLL), and I got a 13-second OLL skip. The Friday Contest has been cancelled, but I will do a few final edits to it before I let it rest in peace. I will also update the rest of the page, on request from a JBA classmate. May 31, 2006- I haven't updated this in a LONG while, and quite a bit has happened in that time. Firstly, my best official rules average is 13.80 seconds, which put me in 7th place in the world until eight other people beat me. Secondly, I now actually average slightly less than 16 seconds. Thirdly, I didn't get the chance to go to the World Championships or to Trumbull Spring 2006, the latter due to a traveling cost of approximately $1,000. Fourthly, the Friday Contest is several weeks behind due to school and, more recently, my forgetfulness/laziness. Fifthly, the FC will probably be cancelled. Sixthly, I got out of school a week ago. Seventhly, I'm going back to JBA in a couple weeks and won't be able to update the page. Eighthly, I also have a math competition in a few days and will be gone from Thursday through Saturday. Ninthly, I've edited WikiCube some more recently, and (almost) nobody else has. Tenthly, I still need a better cube. Eleventhly, I might start updating this page more. Twelfthly, "twelfthly" is an awesome word. Thirteenthly, I don't have anything more to say. Fourteenthly, bye. August 20, 2005- I haven't updated this in a while, but I haven't made much progress on the cube in that time. I got braces on the 17th, but this apparently had no effect on my cubing (my last time before leaving was 15.85, and my first time after getting back was 15.50). :D Today, though, I did very well, highlighted by my (pb) 16.865 RA! (It should be noted, however, that I am NOT a sub-17 cuber: immediately after this, I did the Sunday Contest and got 18.339) Now I just need to do that on a Stackmat, preferably in Orlando on November 5th and 6th, 2005. ;) August 12, 2005- Only took twelve times (aka the Sunday Contest) today, and I got an avg of 18.874, my best contest yet! It included a 14, a 15, and three 16s. :D It also included three 19s, a 20, a 21, a 22, and a 23.01 on the first solve (hadn't warmed up). August 11, 2005- Today I got a non-lucky 12.92! Only .05 of a sec off my pb. It actually improved on the 13.12 (then my 2nd best non-lucky time) I got in the Friday Contest yesterday, 12 solves earlier! I also got two 14s, four 15s, nine 16s, and two 27s. :S August 10, 2005- I only took 67 times today, but they included two 13s (a 13.12 was in my 19.11 FC avg!), three 15s... and a 28. :(((( August 9, 2005- 150 timed solves today, the most yet. Also notable was that 19 went from being three solves less common than 21 to thirteen solves more common, and 18 jumped ahead at the end of the day to take a shared lead with 20, at 270 occurrences each, with 268 19s. I also got a 13.25, a 14.71 seven solves later, and eight (!) 15s. August 8, 2005- I reached 2000 solves today, and (finally!) got my avg of 1000 sub-20. :) A 25 near the end almost brought me over 20, but I managed to keep it under under 20 ever since it first went under with a lucky 13.93 on solve #1976. So the stats are: avg of first 1000 = 21.71642. Avg of 2nd thousand = 19.99488. Overall avg = 20.85565. 8/4/05-8/8/05 times graph at bottom. [edit: this pic has been removed] August 7, 2005- A disappointing day on the cube, my RA never went below 19 (except at the beginning when times from yesterday were still included). I did the Sunday Contest and got 20.55. :( Also, my average of 1000 stayed between 20.05482 and 20.06925 for the whole day, and I'm still trying to get it under 20. I'll post the times graphs later. August 6, 2005- My first solve today was a 15, completing a run of three 15s in a row! I continued this to get a pb average of 17.166, but unfortunately I didn't keep it up long enough to make it sub-17. August 5, 2005- Another good day, I got a non-lucky 12.87 (!) and a lucky 13.03, and a nice finish with two consecutive 15s. The first Friday Contest ended today, and Jon Morris won with an average of 15.95. I was second with 19.95. ;) No times graphs today; I will instead wait several days and then make a larger graph. August 4, 2005- A great day on the cube; I beat my personal records for single solve (14.07 -> 13.70), lucky solve (11.90 -> 11.84), unofficial rules average (18.315 -> 17.792), avg of 100 (19.8531 -> 18.8594), and avg of 1000 (20.34541 -> 20.15608) August 3, 2005- I have now been cubing for a year. :) Not much on the cube, except I got my avg of 1000 down to about 20.34 (from 20.39). Times graphs at bottom. [edit: this pic has been removed] August 2, 2005- Today I finally (!) got an official rules sub-20 avg! The times were: 17.54 21.94 29.76 19.72 18.43 20.24 18.91 21.63 15.33 25.97 19.21 15.20 -> 19.892. I just had to do this before my first cubing anniversary tomorrow. ;) Average day on the cube otherwise. Times graphs at bottom. [edit: this pic has been removed] August 1, 2005- 99 times today, including 95 between 16 and 23 inclusive (a higher percentage than July 30's!). There were 24 18s and only one 24, as well as a 12.60 PLL skip and a 13.87 OLL skip. :) I beat my pb's for avg of 100 (19.8531) and 1000 (20.37743) and got not only my 199th 21 but my 198th 20 too. ;) My cube depression of the last 2-3 days has ended. :) See the bottom for times graphs and the 12.60 printscreen. [edit: this pic has been removed] July 31, 2005- Only took 12 times today, and those were the Sunday contest. I averaged 22.00. :( Times graphs at bottom. [edit: this pic has been removed] July 30, 2005- Nothing much today, but today was very consistent. 40 times out of 42 were 16-23 (!). See the times graphs at the bottom. [edit: this pic has been removed] July 29, 2005- I did the Friday Contest today, and barely got sub-20. I also got a string of four sub-18s tonight, followed by a horrible session. The former contributed to 17 being (jointly) my most common time today (8 of them, and 8 21s out of 42, or 19% each). See the times graphs at the bottom. [edit: this pic has been removed] July 28, 2005- Not much notable on the cube today other than a 14.43 (non-lucky) and a short run that included several 17s. Maybe that explains why I got 8 17s today (23% of 35 solves), more than any other time, and why I passed 100 17s (unfortunately, I also got one 24, my 100th). See the times graphs at the bottom. [edit: this pic has been removed] July 27, 2005- This morning I got a non-lucky 14.07 (my PB)! :) Besides this, I noticed a remarkably consistent string of 31 times tonight: all 31 were sub-23; the last 21 were all sub-22; the times included: 16 x 2, 17 x 3, 18 x 1, 19 x 8, 20 x 10, 21 x 5, and 22 x 2; and there was both a run of 4 19s and one of 4 20s! See bottom for a pic of this run, as well as two different times graphs. [edit: this pic has been removed] July 26, 2005- I didn't do much cubing today (13 times), instead I solved my 2x2x2 a few dozen times. My best solve was 6.17, but I got a lucky 2.xx, whereupon the timer just had to malfunction. My best average was 9.514, and the avg of all 37 was 10.228919. Today was also notably the first day since the 22nd that I didn't get a sub-14 time. I'm anxiously awaiting my Cubesmith stickers that I ordered a few days ago (all of my stickers are very bad). Times graph at bottom. [edit: this pic has been removed] July 25, 2005- Today I got a lucky sub-12!!!! I finished a very easy (but not lucky) F2L in 9 seconds, then found that I had an OLL skip and an edge 3-cycle for a PLL, which I completed in 2 seconds for a total of 11.90! I also got my 2nd best non-lucky time (14.42; my best is 14.25) 16 solves later and my best unofficial rules RA (18.315; prev. 18.326) in between. In addition, I got my average of 1000 under 21. 22 is still my most common time, but I was delighted to find that the most common time of the day was 18, followed by 17, then 19. :) Times graph at bottom as usual. [edit: this pic has been removed] July 24, 2005- My second timed solve today was a 13.81 PLL skip. Perhaps this paved the way for my first sub-20 average of 100 (see the Goals page). I also finished learning Fridrich today, encouraged by my accidental discovery last night of a 9-move alg for a previously annoying OLL. However, I am very slow at remembering some of the algs I learned today, so I need to practice them more. Also today, I had many disappointing solves and averages, so 22 is now overall (annoyingly) my most common time. You can see my (total) times graph at the bottom of this page. [edit: this pic has been removed] July 23, 2005- Today I got a 13.48 LL skip, my second LL skip ever! I used partial edge control to skip the edge orientation, but the rest was pure luck. ;) I also got 4 15s, one of which was lucky, and several 16s. Also today I passed 1000 times on my spreadsheet, and the avg of 1000 was 21.71642, which I later reduced to 21.57678 on solve #1,061, which was my last time of the day. I came somewhat close to a sub-18 unofficial rules RA (see the Goals page) a few times, the best being 18.55, and got my 100th 19. Like most days, though, I did have some bad RAs, and once I even went over 22 :( See the bottom of the page for a graph of what times have occurred how often. [edit: this pic has been removed] July 22, 2005- Ugh! I just did the Sunday Contest, and my avg - 22.161 - is worse than my previous RA by almost 2.5 secs! :( All but two times (18.96 and 17.01) were over 21 seconds! Anyway, my times were: (25.91) 22.19 22.71 24.92 22.21 22.98 (POP) 18.96 21.92 21.04 22.43 22.25 (17.01) July 21, 2005- I now have 900 times from an online timer recorded, and my avg of 900 is 20.89! I also got some stats on what times occur how often: 13 x 1 14 x 4 15 x 10 16 x 24 17 x 49 18 x 83 19 x 79 20 x 105 21 x 108 22 x 108 23 x 104 24 x 84 25 x 60 26 x 32 27 x 26 28 x 13 29 x 10 Remember, some of these times are from when I was a few seconds slower. ;) |
