The Mohorovicic Discontinuity I. THE SEEKING Into the depths of the unknown, the curious searchers dig deeper to find the answer to all their seeking. For to take just a sample of the mantle of the earth, the would penetrate the discontinuity and when at last they have it, they will know the Glory of the World. Not giving up secrets easily, the earth will heave and shudder and groan to keep them out of its flesh. But Man must seek to inner composition of his world- it is the last frontier; with Everest conquered, and the moon walked upon, all that is left is to cross the Mohorovicic Discontinuity. And if the forces the earth rakes upon them prove too disturbing to contend against, then Man will subdue the angry planet and force it to answer to his demands. And if the earth struggles, and rends itself open, kills itself even, to keep Man from reaching its great supreme treasure- (for this must not fall to the hands of the seekers, they would not know how to use it) -then what will Man do? The object of his desire withheld him, he will grate upon the earth, breaking its will with tortures too horrible to mention here. The earth must comply with Mans demands, or Man will destroy it. All this to satisfy his hunger to see what lies beneath the Mohorovicic Discontinuity. II. HEART REDUCER Terror of Time! What will befall you? Sending your poison to luminous realms, entering outward to all emerged forward, let the ascension take hold of your spirit! I will not stand by to see earths secret squandered, wasted for truth that proves false in the end. We take for ourselves what is given in interest and seek the immensity, looking for meaning. The end of the known universe is upon us! The lyrics will struggle to meet its demands, the nations of earth will prepare for its summit, the mouths of the children will cry out for bread. This time of disaster has fallen to us, to make what we need and to cherish the light That shines forth in blessing for our eyes to see. Our warriors will not yield to this new disaster but strengthen their horses in coming display. They march out to battle. III. THE BATTLE In the open we see the field of conflict, stretching out limitless with thousands of warriors arrayed like the sand on the seashore. Our leaders prepare for the first waves approach and send us the signal to open our fire. We carry our hearts one desire upon our heads- that to take what the earth will not give to us willingly, our enemies scatter we will. We shudder in thought of the battle before us but press on, knowing we think we are right. The fist will run! Grasp metal to gun, the spirit sings in crashing tones, weve gained the high points, now we advance and the foe melts before us. Clash of swords and mighty thunders, whistling arrows, smoldering flame, the earths foul four-headed beasts of battle prove strong and unswerving, but in the end they fall like the rest of our planets great might. We, who were trusted to subdue the earth, now do so by breaking it open. Todays the day to celebrate, the foe have met their fate. The order for rejoicing and dancing has come from our warlord. Now the great work of tearing the earth apart can commence. IV. WHAT LIES BELOW The great penetrating drill has at last pulled forth a sample of the mantle of the earth. It is carried in haste to our scientists who will dissect it to see what it means. We wait in anticipation of the results of their analyzation. V. DUST IN THE WIND But the word that comes out: After we opened the samples container and pulled out the specimen (Heart of the Earth), it crumbled to dust on the scientists table. O unceasing, unbounded ambition! What have you done? You strove to peer into our planets deep secrets, and what have you got from it? Dust in the wind. The earth will not let you take part in its innermost substances, instead making all mans ambition prove naught in the end. Millions lie dead! For what, do we ask? And now we go back to our limited dreams and insecure passions providing for wealth at the end of the day. O, terror and darkness! We are as we seem to be. Now we are as we were before. VI. THE APOCALYPSE Fearful dichotomy, distant trumpets sound out their fanfares for our presentation. What we want out for us, we will endeavor to pull outward to the encompassing ocean. The fate of the universe lies in His hands, the quest now inhibited, fallen to ground and respecting the righteousness stolen from being. We are as we say, and the surfaces squandered remain in our uptake But wait! The earth demands the return of our sample. We try to explain, that the specimen faltered, disintegrated, and now it is lost. We think of our own wasted energies in this endeavor. Oh well. Hey, we tried. Back |
