One Left Standing

The guns are blaring, bullets blazing
What am I doing here?
I have no quarrel with these people
now my heart is filled with fear

Face to face, two sworn enemies
yet we've never met before
who will be the first to fall?
I don't want to be here anymore

Memories flash as bullets fly
I have family, I'm sure you do too
Hell, it was just a week ago
we sat at the table playing Clue

Six year old Eddie won the game
much to his innocent delight
later we had a barbeque
and friends dropped by that night

Now that was a lifetime ago
and might as well have been on the moon
for I'm so far away from home
a strange land and facing doom

What is your life like, I wonder
Do you have kids, a loving wife?
Will friends miss you when you're gone?
Did you have hopes and dreams for life?

The guns are blaring, bullets blazing
damn, what are we doing here
the muzzle of a gun flashes fire
One soldier left, standing in fear!
