MANY LIFETIMES

It was many, many years ago
another lifetime from the past
you were a handsome rogue
I, a bonnie Irish Lass

You caught my eye one sunny morn
as you rode down from the highland
You stole my heart that very glance
I vowed someday you'd be my man

I dreamt of making love to you
on the beach in the ocean spray
and under stars that shone for us
as you took my breath away

but alas, it was not meant to be
for you sailed away that eve
N'er to return again
My soul did cry and grieve

My heart did break, t'would be my death
I swore I'd love you forever
with my last breath I closed my eyes
I'd love another, never

I searched for you for many years
through many lifetimes since
I'd know you by your gentle eyes
and I thought I saw you once

It was on the plains of Dakota
you were a handsome brave
I was an Indian maiden
and your love I truly craved

You set out one day upon your horse
to hunt the buffalo
you kissed my lips and said 'goodbye'
you left with only bow and arrow

The night did come, still no return
my heart ached with growing pain
Fallen by the whiteman's gun
I knew you'd not be back again

You went to the Great Spirit above
I knew I'd follow you soon
But I would search to the ends of the earth
for many, many moons

Yet, again, there was another time
we sailed together upon the sea
aboard a luxury liner
not sure what our fate would be

and then we hit disaster
the ship became no more
I felt your hand slip out from mine
I prayed we'd meet upon the shore

I was put into a life boat
I painfully cried out to you
my heart sank with the ship that day
there was nothing I could do

Now, here we are again my Love
I pray you will not let this die
for I'm not sure how many life times there'll be
to give our love another try

But alas, my Love, you did not heed
these words I begged of you
and now our time is near its end
Once again....I bid you sweet adieu!
