I've lived my whole life by the book
Obeying all the rules
So pardon me if you have a gripe
But I think I've paid my dues
I gave what was expected of me

Above and beyond the call of duty
Only to be kicked down to the floor
Many empty years were spent in tears
You hardly knew that I was there
I worked my fingers to the bone
I doubt you ever really cared
I've been neglected, disrespected
And I've taken all your flack
And in return, through all these years
I got so little back
I never asked for much from you
Maybe that's where I first went wrong
That's pretty much all that you gave
And I could go on and on
But now I've been enlightened
A person can take just so much bull
So here's my card, I'll say goodbye
