holiday season and Christmas cheer
I wish that I could just take a trip
and skip the whole darn works this year!
I don't know what they mean when they say
"Have a very happy holiday"
for me it's all just work, no play
I want to hide or run away!
While everyone else is sitting around
visiting here and there
I'm rushing off my feet for weeks
making sure everything is well prepared
Cooking the turkey, ham and all else
decorating the house with garland and bows
baking all kinds of cookies and pies
I'm full of flour from head to toe
Then setting the table so it looks just right
finally, it's time to serve the grub
they all fill their stomachs, sit down to relax
while I have a mountain of dishes to scrub
Oh but they mustn't forget the dessert
with all those cookies and pies galore
and with that, they leave and say good night
Merry Christmas, we'll see you......
....same time next year!
