This picture was actually taken Saturday, September 7,
before the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball game.
The giveaway that evening was the Pirate Rubber Ducky.
This is my son, Edward, looking towards
the 7th Street Bridge, where the duckies were
about to be dumped into the Allegheny River.
10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1...DUCKY DUMP!
20,000 duckies ready to start the race!
Wonder which one was my lucky duck number 39618!!
And, they're off!
Seemed like they were moving slowly, but within 20 minutes,
the first duckies were almost finished!
At the end of the race was a tube.
There was a guy at the end of the tube collecting
the duckies as they came out and handing them off
to people putting them in numbered ziplock baggies.
The first 40 ducks were collected this way.
