| Ansel Adams
Ansel Adams, one of the finest photographers of the 20th century, was born in 1902 in San Francisco, California. He gained an appreciation for nature at an early age and visited Yosemite in 1916. Three months later, the valley became a National Park. Adams became the official photographer for the Sierra Club and led excursions into the valley. In 1968, Ansel Adams was awarded the Conservation Service Award for his political work for conservation. Ansel Adams was not only a fabulous photographer, but he was amazing in the dark room. He had an innate skill that allowed him to make the best prints possible from his negatives. He used techniques called burning and dodging (regulating the amount of light that hits a specific area in a print) to create pictures that are as ethereal as they are inspiring. |
