GRADE CONVERSION BETWEEN ICC AND BCF

Converting ICC to BCF grades.

I have produced this table as the advice on conversion given on the BCF site is inaccurate.

An 1860 ICC grade converted to BCF using their advice gives 108, which is far wide of the mark.

After looking closely at the issue I have computed this table.

It is, however, as yet only approximate. When you convert to BCF the answer may be up to 20 points out.

So a ICC grade of 1750, for example, gives 134 BCF. This could be as low as 114, or as high as 154.

In other words all BCF grades can be regarded as +/- 20.

However. I believe the table is a good guide to ICC BCF grade conversion.

The formula, if you are interested, is rather complicated.

BCF = ax²–bx+71

where x = ICC grade, and a = 0.0000447, and b = .042
