update 11/07/07
Having finished my TEFL and TEYL courses on the 3rd of June 2005, I soon found a job and started working on the 6th of June. I am now into my third year of teaching (at the same school) and find I am still thouroughly enjoying the experience. Living in Thailand opens your eyes to certain aspects of life you cannot imagine in the West. The Thai people I find to be among the friendliest and welcoming people I have come across and this has been one of the many reasons I have stayed here for so long. I am also finding the teaching to be a rewarding career over here as the teachers here are shown so much respect from the students. something which is sadly lacking in schools in UK and elsewhere.
Since coming to live here, I have had many opportunities to travel in SE Asia and experience different Asian cultures. I have been to China, Cambodia and Malaysia. I will soon be going up to Laos and Myanmar, a trip I am looking forward to. My future plans are not set in stone yet as I am perfectly hapy where I am at the moment, but as soon as that changes, then I will move on, perhaps to South America or China but who knows? I am enjoying seeing my students develope basic English skills and I am happy that I am doing something worthwhile.
