NZ - South Island
We are now driving down the South Island. Left the North Island, nearly missing the ferry, thanks to me not setting the alarm properly! Ah well, we made it ok in the end! Travelling with a couple of Norwegian guys at the moment which is cool.
This is Jake shooting a dolphin off the back of a sailing boat. Joke! Joke! He's shooting at a bottle in a competition! Both Jake and I managed to hit the bottle 3 out of 3 times. Most people only got 1! This is all of us together with the Norwegian guys, and Mo from London who was with us for a couple of days.
On our way down the North Island, we stopped at 'Hobbiton'. Where large parts of the Lord of the Rings films were filmed. This is me in the doorway of Bilbo Baggins 'hobbit hole'.
At Rotorua Jake and the Norwegian guys went to the AgroDome. Here (amongst other things) they climbed into a big ball, and were rolled down a hill, for fun!
This is Jake kayaking at Takaka, where he went to see his friends Pauline and Barry.
This is the champange pool at the Wai Tupo geo-thermal wonderland. The different colours are amazing, but the whole place stinks of sulphur!
After just 1 week and over 3000km our hire car is beggining to suffer. A few minor repairs required before we return it!
We stopped overnight at Greymouth, which was a dump. However, the river leading to the sea looked deceptively nice!
